Forgetful Heart -- Milwaukee 1 July 09 -- First Live Performance

Comments

all time best live song

This was also performed in Seattle on the second show, oct 5th at the Wamu Theater. It was much the same in how the audience were treated to his command on stage, but too much chatting in milwaukee..not so much in seattle. We were too busy being awed to stand there talking thru his song. At the end of his song, the venue roared its thanks and the memories of that i will carry always. Thank you Bob and your wonderful band...see you again when you head back west.

Forgetful heart

Thank you Bob for such beautiful song - like a good old wine!

Gave me the Chills

just saw this performed in Berkeley. He came out from behind the keys and just zoned in on this with only a harmonica and a microphone. haunting and gripping. the whole crowd was silent and locked into bob. one of those moments that keep you coming back for more.

Haunting...Beautiful

I was there in Milwaukee when he sang this song. Didn't know that was it's public debut. Sat transfixed throughout, it was done so much more deep and haunting than on the album - the way it was meant to be done - harmonica like his soul groaning, crying in sorrow. Definitely glad for the "bootleg" here, but would LOVE to hear an officially mastered version of this performance.

Bob's Songs

This is such a beautiful song. When the album came out I bought it, then I bought the deluxe one. Now I bought the one w/ the t-shirt!!

Every time I listen to an album I hear a song and think "that one is my favorite!" Then I hear another...it goes on and on. Once again, he knocks it out of the park!!

What I don't understand is how scathing the critics were in the late '70's and '80's. I absolutely love Street Legal, especially Changing of the Guards. Could probably have done without the backup singers, but it was the '80's!! As the song goes, it's all good.

Hello

When I listened to the song I thought (heard) he sang forgiveful heart.

I am in love with many of his songs, like all of you other fans too.

Thank You Team of this Homepage, You are Great!

Warm feeling

Thanks for posting this on the web. I went to 2 concerts this year. Bit of a travel from Iceland to see Dylan, but I am very happy I did.

I agree it is time to have live performance album. Simply great to see him on stage.

All the best to Bob Dylan and fans from Iceland

Jon Arni.

Forgetful Heart

Gut-wrenching in this version Dylan really nails it . I Hope plays this one in Texas. Welcome Home Bob!!

Alpharetta, Georgia concert

Bob,
I can't wait for your concert here on July 30th!!! Please play Forgetful Heart for us as it is a beautiful song. I have only one other request.
My very favorite song is I Believe in You. If you sang it, you'd make me the happiest woman in the world! See you soon here in Alpharetta, Georgia!

It's settled...

I think we're definitely long past due for another Bob Dylan live album - and this performance of "Forgetful Heart" hammers that point home.

Great. Simply great. I can't wait until I see him (for the second time) in Syracuse on the 19th.

Impressive

I was at the show. Bob took center stage alone at the mic and performed the song terrifically well. It was a great opener for the tour.

Wonderful rendition, special

Wonderful rendition, special moment. Bobby back on guitar & harp, YES!

Forgetful Heart

Haunting...."the door has closed......" life is hard, so hard. Dylan
sings as prophet and genius.....and as enigmatic as forty years ago.
Love the song, thanks for posting it.

Forgetful Heart

Magnificent live performance. Better than the studio version.

God save bootleggers!

Canute - take it easy, but take it!
What a wonderful performance ... very moving; lovely harmonica ... the band are good allies.

Beautiful!

A clear voice connected to universe!
Dear Bob, my best wishes to you and your band on the tour!!
Love you!

WOW: this one is good

Forgetful heart
Lost your power of recall
Every little detail
You don’t remember at all
The times we knew
Who would remember better than you?

Forgetful heart
We laughed and had a good time, you and I
It’s been so long
Now you’re content to let the days go by
When you were there
You were the answer to my prayer

Forgetful heart
We loved with all the love that life can give
What can I say?
Without you it’s so hard to live
Can’t take much more
Why can’t we love like we did before?

Forgetful heart
Like a walking shadow in my brain
All night long
I lay awake and listen to the sound of pain
The door has closed forevermore
If indeed there ever was a door

great song

Forgetful Heart

Hauntingly beautiful phrasing and arrangement!
