This album has a warmth and joy to it that captures the Christmas season.
Must Be Santa, Do You Hear What I Hear, Little Drummer Boy, The Christmas Song, Winter Wonderland, Silver Bells and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas are my favorites.
This album is just behind Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song" album on the all-time best Christmas album list.
Enjoy it ... and an early Merry Christmas to all - thanks to Bob Dylan it came early this year.

I love "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem." A fine lineup of musicians singing lead as well as backup -- like listening to carolers. Well done, Bob, and with good-natured and sly humor as well as Christmas charity.

As ‘Christmas Island’ appears to be an inhuman Australian asylum centre nowadays, and Jerusalem the worlds capital of ethnic cleansing, and Nazareth the place where Christians fear expulsion, so is Bethlehem growing towards being an open air prison. But do we Christians (and Jews) have ‘a bit of a problem’ in religion? Most don’t think so. We helped expelling Palestinians since let’s say 1917. And now there is only 11% of Palestine for them left, where they - thanks again to us - live highly oppressed, we blame Hamas for not wanting Peace! :-) Bob Dylan, better watch out what you sing songs about..

"Christmas Island" to an Australian audience sounds like a blatent political statement. Christmas island is a real place and is infamous for its inhumane detention centres where those seeking asylum in Australia are kept for processing sometimes for years in prison like conditions. This albums is realeased as this issue is hotly contested in our parliament. its funny that hearing him sing "How'd ya like to spend Christmas On Christmas Island?" takes on a whole new unintendded 'do they know its christmas?' style meaning.

I think that some Dylan fans still want him to be the voice of this or that. ? They take things way too seriously when it comes to Dylan. At the end of the day, he can do as he pleases musically. Good or bad. He is only a man after all. A very gifted man but only a man.

When did Dylan not make people scratch their heads, get angry, get happy, and eventually set the tone for others to sing along with? This is another historical footnote in a lifetime of achievement and accomplishment. The first and perhaps only Christmas album I and other Jews will ever buy, very glad I did, and we can only hope he keeps doing what he has always done, compel people to listen and think.

I am not a fan of Xmas music.
I will get a copy of this though as all the royalties are going to feed the homeless of the USA and records sold outside the US will raise money for charities around the world.
So for someone to suggest that no one can say no to Dylan when he suggested making a Xmas LP for charity is a complete dick.

I have been fanatical about the music of Bob Dylan since I was a freshman at Ball State University in 1975 and I received a Dylan album for my birthday. It was love at first listen. I have all the albums, all the CDs, have seen Mr. Dylan in concert three times, and wore out four copies of Blood on the Tracks nnd Street Legal.
That said, I absolutely hate this Christmas album. Did you get bad advice? Could no one say "no" to you? Did you have brain freeze?
I guess one bum album in a long career is pretty good odds.

After pre-ordering it through Amazon.com I received Bob Dylan's Christmas In The Heart CD today. I enjoy listening to it. Bob Dylan's voice mature like a fine wine. Merry Christmas to Bob Dylan!
The Best Christmas Album Ever Made
Bob Dylan’s new CD “ Christmas In The Heart” is, as far as I’m concerned, the most soulful, tender-hearted, and funniest(ALL AT THE SAME TIME—I kid you not) Christmas album of all time. I listened to every second of it on earphones - three nights in a row. It was so much fun, I've already bought 5 copies for people I love. A definite grand slam out of the park.

A most eagerly awaited album.
However as much as I wanted this to be as cool as when his Bobness was lumbering in the video of "Things have changed" or when listening to him as a DJ on radio XM, I cant help to find this album uneven. The production is so flawless and the arrangement and musicians play so cabable that it backfires an comes of as a bit strained and too controlled for me. I wanted it to bee both proffessional and cool as the giants christmas albums like Elvis, Nat king Cole or Sinatra, but something is missing and it just does not fully reach my heart (yet?) or make me laugh (yet?) (even though I should when he sounds drunk on"Must be santa" etc..) Maybe he is also trying to hard to sound sincere on some songs, or maybe it is me that is just not yet caught in the full christmas spirit due to the october rain outside?? I find the best numbers to be "Winter wonderland, The christmas song and Christmas island" though, I like them very much. I´ll buy the vinyl just for the sake of those numbers alone, and the album will probably grow on me with the help of some glüwine.

Little Drummer Boy is my favorite. I loved the Bowie/Crosby (Little Dummer Boy/Peace on Earth) version and thought that no one could make it better but I was so wrong.
I was driving my car in the middle of the night listening to this album and I realised that this songs sung by Dylan will go down to history. Such touching closeness in his voice that it changed my understanding of Dylan and took it into a deeper level.
