The greatest

This is the greatest live album of all time. There is no debate. It doesn't get better than this.

One fine set!

I know it's too much to hope for, but i wish Mr Dylan would
release one of his 65' show's from master. I know the lineup
would be similar, but some were a bit diffrent. I know they exist.

1-2-3 track master tape

Yer right! that's one great set. like em all...LOUD!
After all it's electric....well mostly, the acoustic songs
sound great loud too! Mixed from 3 track master
mono vocals in center? anyhow it's great as a time capsule
of the day powered by that one eyed midget and his sword
swallowing cow! Dont forget to find the new christmas cd.

Amazing Album

I completely agree that this, like "How the West Was Won," is an amazing and historical album. I have never read the liner notes, but I will.

Play it ******* loud!

Led Zeppelin has a live album called "How the West Was Won," which is a five star live album through and through. If Dylan has a How the West Was Won: this is it. It's a time capsule of excitement and transition - a piece of rock and roll history excellently preserved: a time machine powered by burgundy and milk coerced by a one eyed midget.

Also, if you own this album and haven't actually read the booklet, please do so. Moreso than the liner notes of the other Bootleg Series album, the liner notes of this album are a great read. I feel like a dork saying that, but I mean it.

SLUMDOG
I love listening to the two sets one after another. I think it works best as a whole.
You can feel the tention coming out of the speakers on your sterio.
No other live album comes close.

Manchester

... and why has the Free Trade Hall been sold off to a hotel chain?

For me, this is the best

For me, this is the best music ever made. I first heard the bootleg on an unlabelled cassette tape found at my Dad's when I was 14 - had no idea who it was. Famous for being electric; undeniably electrifying.

Thunderous

If I had a time machine, this is the very first thing I would travel back to see. Enough said.

Great Live Album

5

I am not adding anything knew to what has already been said previously. I just got this album and it is one of my favorites. The last song "Like a Rolling Stone" right after the JUDAS heckler is maybe the best live song from anyone I have ever heard. I love the guts he showed by playing the electric stuff even though he was booed every night because of it. Great stuff!!!

Great Album, play it Fuckin' loud!

5

This was the first Bob Dylan I actually bought, I had others from parents borrowing them and things. But as soon as I heard that this is the infamous concert with the goon shouting JUDAS! I knew I had to get it. The acoustic disc is good listening, but the eletric part is the bit to buy it for, starting off with Tell Me, Momma, a great song. I found Ballad Of A Thin Man to be way better than the studio version, I really love it despite Bob's low mic volume. And when he shouts 'Play fuckin' loud!' to his band and they roar into a phenomonal Like A Rolling Stone, that bit is just magic. You can tell he's pissed off. All around a great album, a must-have for any serious Dylan fan.

The greatest live album on planet Earth.

Incredible

The live electric set here is really beyond description.

BEST CD (set) OF ALL TIME

5

Brilliant is a word that only comes close to describing this set. Not only does the music awe you but there is SO much defiant but yet strong and sure emotion that his music was a masterpiece despite the “boos.” The c.d. is quite literally a piece of history...it was an axis point when music was teetering on change...and honey the time’s they were a chagin’

The best

This is my favourite Dylan album. As a performer, I think he peaked here. You can almost hear the exact moment at the end of Mr Tambourine Man when that sprawling harmonica blowing suddenly sweeps up like the wind has caught it and I find, when I'm really listening, this sound seems to lift me out of myself. I love the confrontational aspect of the second disc. And considering almost all of Bob's best songs from the '60s are here, this is one mighty mighty album. If I had a time machine I would go back and experience this concert live.

Acoustic or Electric?

5

It seems as though people either love the acoustic or love the electric, but not both. They will merely like the other side, but nothing more.

I personally have always loved both. Maybe I am an exception, but Dylan's clear and distinct words give me chills on disc one. It is one of my favorite things to listen to. But just as much, I love the way he takes it away on disc two, also one of my favorite things to listen to.

I honestly couldn't pick acoustic or electric I think they are both brilliant beyond words. They each in their own way have so much feeling that is coming out of them. It's like he puts his whole soul into each word and then each strum of the guitar.

This CD makes my brain want to explode. I love it as it is. It wouldn't be what it is without the great contrast that exists between the two discs.

Manchester's Free Trade Hall World Tour '66

This is a highlight album...even if it wasn't really at Royal Albert Hall...Ha...and even if it was Dylan's 'sell out' moment...Amazing acoustic set and very infamous electric set...Any true Dylan fan has got to love this album. Great sets on both acoustic and electric side of things...This is probably amongst the top 3 of my favorite Dylan albums. The live recording sound fits so well with Dylan - the raw, emotional sound to the slightly changed songs make this album complete. Robbie's dark ,and cringing, telecaster sound add to the fullness of the electric songs. Definitely a good call on releasing this stuff. Need more old stuff like this to be released!!!

Judas!

Another one from the vaults. I think I prefer the acoustic set to the notorious electric one, but it's really cool to hear punk Dylan just take down his own audience with his defiant use of electric guitar. It's more about the confrontation than the performance.

Better the acoustic set than the electric

3

It's famous for the electric set and the yell of "Judas", but the listenable part of it is the acoustic set. A wonderful set with a Dylan in a great moment. The electric part doesn't sound well, probably because by then it was difficult to record it live.
