Apart from 2 songs, i think Street Legal is a bit forced. Don't like the songs or production. Sounds like he was struggling on this record. Changing Of The Guards and Senor are grea.
Loving TTL though

I do agree. I also would bring TTL and "Bringing It All Back Home" if I could have my way.
"Beyond here" grows and grows like My Wife´s Home Town.
This Dream Of You is still my favorite.
This one really sneaks up on you. The longer I have it , the more I like it. "Beyond Here" is my favorite and I love the borrowing of "I Just Want To Make Love To You for "My Wife's Hometown". Bob's laugh at the end of that tune is priceless. Whenever I feel like listening to Dylan now, it seems I'm always grabbing something from the 1995-present period. I absolutely love all the albums in this period.

I thaught the trilogy began with Time out of mind and ended with Modern times. I could be wrong.
Of all the recent albums I think TOOM and MT are the best.
I love this one though.
Another great one, which completes the trilogy started off with "Love and Theft". Life Is Hard and If You Ever Go To Houston are really cool, and I Feel a Change Coming On is one of my big favourites. It's not quite as good as "Theft", but about as good as Modern Times. I love it, really.

Was not too sure when I first started to listen to it. Took it away with me on holiday and when I finally managed to relax I was able to start to get into it. Finally decided it was a great way to switch off from the wife and kids when staying in holiday rentals. Worked out well and think that the kids even began to like it in the end. Not so sure about the wife.
Man, this is an awesome album. I'm listening to it right now!
The season finale of the HBO series "True Blood" is called "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'." I bet that Dylan's song which shares this title will be played during the closing credits of that episode.
listening to his music for about 4 years, I don´t know witch album all songs are on , but I know, That in my Life I Love Them all. His songs, lyrics, encourage me to be independant.
I wish my playlist on my page would play the entire songs, like they did before,

Then it grew on me a bit but still didn't think it was as good as people were saying.
Now I get it and love it!
It's a band making great rock n roll with great melodies and some heart felt ballads of longing.
I didn't think it was as complex lyrically or melodically as MT or TOOM, but now i get that it's not meant to be.
It's getting back to basics.
The production is raw. It's great. I love raw Dylan.
His voice is amazing. the best I've heard him sing in years.

My first reaction to this album was not favorable. On first lsitening I thought I had heard nothing but a bunch of songs about jilted love. Where was some social protest? Commentary on the American scene? Insights into the realm of the spirit? Almost each Dylan album i love has one song that does at least one of those -- take for isntance as a radical point of departure, Desire.
Here we have Hurricane -- a song of advocacy for one wrongly in prison. (Social protest at its best)
Joey -- showing how even a career runner of rackets can be heroic and sadly die that way. (A commentary on part of the American psyche that we can see the heroism in such a man)
Oh Sister -- with the line, "Is not our purpose to love and follow His direction" -- how hard I try to use that as a mantra for my life. (A song, with that one lyric in particular, that shoots right to my soul).
Here? A collection of songs about love gone wrong or the pitfalls of love, or the ache of love, etc.
That was my FIRST impression.
But I never give up on Dylan, so I listened several more times. Then I got it and fell in love with it.
All is Good is a wry commentary on America at 2009. And My Wife's Home Town is witty and funny. Jolene and Forgetful Heart have haunting music and powerful lyrics and become favorties on the third or fourth listening.
So is this typical Dylan? Perhaps not (thoguht It Ain't Me Babe, Don't Think Twice, etc. are of this genre but very differently done). Is it like any recent Dylan? Not in my view. But despite that, if you want bluesy folk rock songs played excellently that grow on you, this is near great album.
Now consider after 48 years and the business and at age 68 he is putting out an album I consider near great, is out on tour, and is celebrating 48 years in the business. Wow!

There is a new book out with the lyrics of Forever Young illustrated by Paul Rogers. The illustrations are incredible - Mr. Rogers clearly has a deep understanding of Dylan. We're all a bit barmy, aren't we?
Much of Dylan's lyrics contain "coloquial" English. It's not "proper" or "common" English, but more like the spoken English of the characters in his songs. We Americans rarely speak English according to the rules of grammar, rather more within a social context. What I'm writing here I would never say in conversation. Also, a lot of American English is contextual. People from Britain might not understand us without understanding the context, as we might not understand some of their context. Dyan's lyrics often contain contextual references that are uniquily American, or common among English speakers, but may be lost in translation. For example: "Like a Rolling Stone" is in context with "A rolling stone gathers no moss." It refers to a person who goes through life with no planning or purpose, and consequentially gains very little. American English usage is replete with contexts, which if one is not familiar, would not understand. I'm sure it is the same in other languages. I often come across contexts in American English with which I'm unfamiliar, and English is my native language. So quite often I don't understand some of Dylan's lyrics either.
