Bob Dylan and his band played in Canandaigua, New York, tonight... a regular stop over the past decade, just a hundred miles from Niagara Falls. Lots of unusual choices tonight including "Under The Red Sky," "This Wheel's On Fire," and "Shooting Star", and the sadly resonant pair of songs from the early 1960's, "Masters of War" and "John Brown".
Next stop: Hamilton, Ontario, on Wednesday night...this tour's only stop across the border.

Hamilton was not this tour's only stop in Canada.
Bob did 5 shows in 4 cities in Atlantic Canada. He did two shows in St. John's, Newfoundland 5/23, 24, Halifax, Nova Scotia 5/21,Saint John, New Brunswick 5/19, Moncton, New Brunswick 5/20. I know Ontario things it's the center of the universe but newsflash it's not. Ironically the first time I saw Bob was 1989 in Hamilton!!!!!!!!!!!
Front Row in Canandaigua
My cousin and I flew up from Nashville for the show - fortunately, we had front row seats. Bob Dylan put on a magical, masterful show and then some. Did I mention how gorgeous he was?
I went to see Dylan last
I went to see Dylan last night
I was expecting something different, I certainly did not expect to hear the album renditions,
the band was exceptional.....
I love the man but the fucken guy screamed every song into this microphone that sounded like a megaphone, you could not make out one word, the renditions were awful, except for like a rolling stone, I did not get it.
a very big disappointment
Tuesday's Show!
What another outstanding show Mr. Dylan and his band preformed tonight. I had second row seats thanks to this wonderful site and the presale. My seats were right in the center and were great excepts for the freaks in front of us (of course, only one row in front of us and we get the freaks waving at Dylan every other minute. It was ridiculous) The mixture of songs was unique and ranged from the early albums up until the present.
Mr. Dylan took the stage at 7:45p.m. The opening number was Cat's in the Well. As I remeber he played this song to open in the 2006 Rochester show. It was a great rendition and very mellow for the opening number. Next was Love Minus Zero/No Limit. I did not really care for this song as I just stared at him from my second row seat. Next came one of the newer songs off of Love and Theft the rocking Summer Days. This is when the band and Bob started to get together with the nods and jestures. They started reading one another and one could feel it in the music.
This Wheel's On Fire was the next Dylan rareity that he played tonight. From the Basement Tapes this song showed the newer version of the song. It was a great rendition.
Next up was another Dylan classic Tangled Up In Blue. I thought this version was really up tempo. Dylan seemed to build it up after each verse. It worked great and showed a great flow to the song. Master of War was the next Dylan classic up. This song could be played anytime and would always be current. Dylan sings it as if he wrote it yesterday even making up new lyrics when he wants. My favorite Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again was the next ballad that the band played. The begining seemed rushed but was classic. As the song progressed it changed more and more. I loved the ending with the instrument arrangements, it was wonderful and jazzy.
Dylan next played a fanatics favorite John Brown. I felt that he really enjoyed preforming the song. I checked and he did sing it a couple of shows ago. He also played this song in Rochester a couple of shows ago. It was classic again and like I said a fanatics favorite.
Beyond The Horizon was next and I actually sat down for this song because I really do not care for it.
Highway 61* Revisited rocked out next. I have heard this tune in concert before but I never really felt it. Tonight I felt every bit of it. It really rocked. In all purposes it could have been 1967 all over again ( I am 32, not that I was there). The band and Mr. Dylan was insync and really brought the house down to my total enjoyment.
The freaks in front of me went nuts for the next rareity Shooting Star from Oh Mercy!. It was a very different song that I have not heard in years. I liked it except for the nut who kept bowing in front of me. That is why Mr. Dylan does not interact with fans because of these crazy people who will not let him just do his thing and leave him alone. The song was great but was upstaged by the nut in front of me. It was a little mellow right after Highway 61.
It's Alright Ma, (I'm Only Bleeding) also rocked the house. I love this song but missed the President on the United States lyric. I do not thinking I was paying attention as I have heard this song alot lately. I play it constantly on my IPOD and loved hearing it live once again.
Under The Red Sky was played next and this was a treat. Most people do not like this ablum but this song was fantastic. I do not know if Bob forgot the words at the end but he said a lyric which made him start laughing. My Dylan found it very amusing.
Thunder on The Mountain was expected. I believe he has played it at every show on the 2008 tour. I really like the up beat to this song. It gives that jazzy kinda feeling. He really enjoys singing it.
Ain't Talkin is another news ong that he and his band played. I have been listening to Modern Times lately and feel this might be the best track off of the album. I was please to hear it live.
Next came the encore with Like A Rolling Stone and All Along The Watchtower. Two great songs that rocked out. Bob thanked the fans and then his band. They actually came to center of the stage and just bowed and then posed there for a minute. Bob actually did some kind of pose with his hands in the air it was quite entertaining to get something from him besides just the music. At his age he sure can keep on keppin on. That show was great and I enjoyed every song, even if he did play Beyond The Horizon. I can't wait to see him again.
