sounds like a tasty death!
Good luck in Paris Oleander. I hope you find what and who you´re looking for!
I planned my death like 15 years ago.
I will be 105 dressed in Chanel and Hermes to the nines, dining in a cafe in Paris with my younger boyfriend about age 85. We will have had a 4-5 hour lunch reviewing our lives, our pasts memories. The desert comes Apple tartartan & I go face down into the tar tartan with whipped creme. All the waiters start screeming and I am gone.
Saturday Paris here I come. Maybe I will meet the younger boyfriend to spend the next 50 years with??!!
Funeral songs. . .
I believe this is the absolute saddest song I've ever heard and I cry profusely whenever I hear it, but it's so damn beautiful, I want it played over and over at high volume at my funeral. It's callled "Carrickfergus" , sung by Joan Baez.
An unholy subject to be exhaling energy about; however, I was just telling my husband the other night- (Yes, the same husband who generously displayed on his big Ford F-250, the license plate frame "My wife likes me, but she LOVES Bob Dylan!" Yes, that same guy!)
I said that it didn't matter when or where, but when Bob leaves the planet, I will be at every possible public memorial held for him. To me, that will be the day the music dies. I can't bear to think about it, so,end of subject!
"In Bob we Trust. Got Dylan?"
one thing is 4 sure
i dont want 2 be left on this planet when bob dylan leaves it....a most dark day indeed, i wont survive. i am a spiritual wimp and i need him.
What about "Lay Down Your
What about "Lay Down Your Weary Tune?" I love the Carnegie Hall performance of that one...
LOL!
Thinking about it - my relatives may choose "It´s All Good" when I´m gone - who knows???
Ha ha ha!!!!
How many funeral songs can I have?
Every Grain Of Sand
Going Going Gone
Make You Feel My Love
and
When The Deal Goes Down
I need to find a priest who is a great Dylan fan who can play it all on extremely high volume so that all dead can hear,
like when I´m listening in my car.
Your song is an excellent choice Kate!
Once Bob Dylan has turned your life upside down
then you have to live rest of your life - upside down
my ringtone is also my funeral song
Beyond the horizon, behind the sun
At the end of the rainbow life has only begun
In the long hours of twilight 'neath the stardust above
Beyond the horizon it is easy to love
My wretched heart's pounding
I felt an angel's kiss
My memories are drowning
In mortal bliss
Beyond the horizon, in the Springtime or Fall
Love waits forever for one and for all
Beyond the horizon across the divide
'Round about midnight, we'll be on the same side
Down in the valley the water runs cold
Beyond the horizon someone prayed for your soul
I'm touched with desire
What don't I do?
I'll throw the logs on the fire
I'll build my world around you
Beyond the horizon, at the end of the game
Every step that you take, I'm walking the same
Beyond the horizon the night winds blow
The theme of a melody from many moons ago
The bells of St. Mary, how sweetly they chime
Beyond the horizon I found you just in time
It's dark and it's dreary
I ponder in vain
I'm weakened, I'm weary
My repentance is plain
Beyond the horizon o'er the treacherous sea
I still can't believe that you've set aside your love for me
Beyond the horizon, 'neath crimson skies
In the soft light of morning I'll follow you with my eyes
Through countries and kingdoms and temples of stone
Beyond the horizon right down to the bone
It's late in the season
Never knew, never cared
Whatever the reason
Someone's life has been spared
Beyond the horizon the sky is so blue
I've got more than a lifetime to live lovin' you
my husband not recognize my posts?
what? and if he does is he gonna bury me waist deep in the ground and have the town throw rocks at me until i am dead?
whoooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa nellie! hold ur horses!
keep it in ur mind, do not 4get, that it is not he or she or them or it, u belong 2. ok?
"My love she speaks like silence,
Without ideals or violence," is my ringtone.
I wake up to "Sara" though, "I laid on a dune, I looked at the sky"
New York Tour
I was in New York in July and August. Too bad I am not there now, it would have been nice to be able to see him again. We had sooo much fun last month when he was in Vegas. Too bad we could not take pictures inside at the concert, but I do have a few pictures of his beautiful tour bus. I read some of these posts, and it seems like some of you are really ripping your heart and soul out over Bob. Do like I do, get a ring tone and put a funny Bob Dylan song on it. I get laughs, and people turn their heads every time my phone rings!!!! Try Bob Dylan's 115th Dream, works EVERY TIME!!!! I LOVE THEIR REACTIONS. I love it!!!!

Secret Bob Dylan Clause
When I read this I had to think for a moment..... "but there is always a way around that: by putting a secret bob dylan clause in the marriage" I am thinking, boy oh boy, you better hope your hubby does not recognize your posts!!!! What does this mean? Does it mean that when you make love with your hubby you sometimes close your eyes and imagine that it is Bob??? Or when you kiss your hubby, you close your eyes and imagine it is Bob??? I am not sure if I read that clause right, but if I did, I guess as long as the hubby does not know, what the heck!!!! Have fun!!!! LOL
Like a Rollin' stone-
Bob Dylan
whoooooo hoooooooo! he;s back! its a BEACH DAY
Oh the time will come up
When the winds will stop
And the breeze will cease to be breathin'.
Like the stillness in the wind
'Fore the hurricane begins,
The hour when the ship comes in.
Oh the seas will split
And the ship will hit
And the sands on the shoreline will be shaking.
Then the tide will sound
And the wind will pound
And the morning will be breaking.
Oh the fishes will laugh
As they swim out of the path
And the seagulls they'll be smiling.
And the rocks on the sand
Will proudly stand,
The hour that the ship comes in.
And the words that are used
For to get the ship confused
Will not be understood as they're spoken.
For the chains of the sea
Will have busted in the night
And will be buried at the bottom of the ocean.
A song will lift
As the mainsail shifts
And the boat drifts on to the shoreline.
And the sun will respect
Every face on the deck,
The hour that the ship comes in.
Then the sands will roll
Out a carpet of gold
For your weary toes to be a-touchin'.
And the ship's wise men
Will remind you once again
That the whole wide world is watchin'.
Oh the foes will rise
With the sleep still in their eyes
And they'll jerk from their beds and think they're dreamin'.
But they'll pinch themselves and squeal
And know that it's for real,
The hour when the ship comes in.
Then they'll raise their hands,
Sayin' we'll meet all your demands,
But we'll shout from the bow your days are numbered.
And like Pharaoh's tribe,
They'll be drownded in the tide,
And like Goliath, they'll be conquered.

Mark, I know exactly where you are talking about and have enjoyed a beer there myself! How wonderful that Bob has a place he can go without being pestered by well meaning people like ourselves, eh? Poor man! Hopefully, his privacy there won't be compromised after reading an article in the latest issue of Rolling Stone where some IDIOT who was complaining about Bob not sharing any of his personal ephemera with the Cleveland Rock and Roll museum, said that Bob kept everything at his farm in Minnesota! What an ass! Talk about a nightmare for Bob! Then, realizing his gaffe, (in my opinion), tried to back pedal by saying he didn't know if Bob still had his farm! Bob will have his own museum, and I hope it's in Hibbing, where it belongs!
"In Bob we Trust. Got Dylan?"
Without You Near Me. . .
Ahhhhh, such beautiful words! Wouldn't you just love to know whom he was thinking of when he wrote that song?!!! Thanks for posting it, Kate! I feel your anguish way out here in California!
"In Bob we Trust. Got Dylan?"
Dylan, don't go.
Don't ever go. Don't let NYC be the end of the NET. Separation anxiety (no words of advice, please). He looked more enigmatic than ever last month. I was near him. But he was far.
Going to post a great photo of Bob that was taken in 1978
by a friend
this is playing loud and clear on the n.e.t. right now..........
The evening winds are still
I've lost the way and will
Can't tell you where they went
I just know what they meant
I'm always on my guard
Admitting life is hard
Without you near me
The friend you used to be
So near and dear to me
You slipped so far away
Where did we go a-stray
I pass the old schoolyard
Admitting life is hard
Without you near me
Ever since the day
The day you went away
I felt that emptiness so wide
I don't know what's wrong or right
I just know I need strength to fight
Strength to fight that world outside
Since we've been out of touch
I haven't felt that much
From day to barren day
My heart stays locked away
I walk the boulevard
Admitting life is hard
Without you near me
The sun is sinking low
I guess it's time to go
I feel a chilly breeze
In place of memories
My dreams are locked and barred
Admitting life is hard
Without you near me
who is kidding whom?
almost 11am and i am still lying around in bed, the sun is shining bright but dont think 4 a second the wind is letting up. since monday, when i saw the bob dylan show, the wind seems 2 have a mind of its own.
i know this wicked nor'easter is hugging the coast and the low pressure is sitting on top of boston. maybe u will get an inch or so of rain. its not rain, its tears, i miss him. he cant come and go like that anymore, i am feeling him and it hurts 2 be apart. easier 2 forget him entirely.
i am not lying 2 myself. i am lazy in bed but not here. my mind is in boston with all the rain and wind, swirling around bob dylan. i will be walking like a zombie today, saturday house cleaning, cooking, swim team practice, the usual routine for a weekend. but my heart and soul r a zillion miles away.... dreaming in the daytime. i give up. there is no way i will be in the present 2day. until tuesday when i see him again i will remain in the immediate future and the past. a temporary spell cast by that yellow shirt and tie he wore in virginia. maybe i will make ravioli 2 take my mind off of him, get lost in the kitchen, where i am safe. i got it bad 4 him right now. i feel tied up by invisible rope.
CHANCE ENCOUNTER
Living just a few blocks from Bob's current home in Minnesota which I pass by each day, I have always wondered what I would say or do if I were ever fortunate enough to meet him. It's rumored that in years past he was known to stop in at the local bar in this small rural town where the townspeople would treat him like just another neighbor and give him some relief from the fame that never seems to release him. As I see people come and go at his home I always wonder if during his short break from touring he might be here crafting another brilliant memory for the world to enjoy. I have his complete collection of studio vinyl and been to his concerts in every state within 800 miles. If I were to meet him, I believe I would just say thanks, and hope he would find that simple gesture enough. Until then, thanks Bob, for the music, the words, and the years of enjoyment you have given me with your concerts and dedication to your life's work. See you at the bar.

2 live it u have 2 explode.
i am land locked, HIGH WATER every where
literally. so much for driving 2 boston, i cant even drive 2 the corner store. need the canoe 4 that. thats the problem living on a strip of land between and ocean and a river. u get surrounded entirely by water when a nor'easter blows thru. kinda like a snow storm in minnesotahhhhhhh. u r aint goin no where til the storm has its way.
this isnt the first time mother nature cooked up a weather event when i jumped on tour. i am thinking something electromagnetic is going on, but i dont know what it is. what i do know is that the powerful energy emitted by bob dylan isnt just felt by me, so i am not crazy at all 4 loving him. u feel it 2.
maybe the storm was trying 2 strand us 2gether like a black out or a white out. i wonder why sometimes bob dylan continues 2 risk his life on the road. it is so dangerous, like a crap shoot. i am like a mother hen, exploring safer alternatives; parking it by the ocean, having a weekly bob dylan show live and also broadcast on cable or tv and simultcast on radio with featured quests as warm up bands. i think it would be lucrative and bob can still play out but he would have to be back by friday/saturday 4 the show. the perfect venue would be borgata in atlantic city. he could live there and use the water club lap pool. does anyone have any ideas short of tying him 2 furniture 2 keep bob dylan in one place? maybe at 72 he will just retire and collect his social security check, i would love 2 have him as a bum 4 thanksgiving dinner. :) instead, a soldier, on the road, dying in his footsteps with his boots on and he should be the commander in chief of all the armed forces!
please, st christopher, carry him back 2 nyc, at least for a week, sigh.
Do Right To Me Baby (Do Unto Others)
"Don't wanna marry nobody if they're already married."
This song by Dylan was surely written during a "grand mal" of respect. It´s so fantastic at that special moment when the insight about respect walks into the brain. It is just as fantastic as it is "heart diving" to find out that you´ve lost respect for someone you loved.
Have you ever thought about how much love a human being contains. Let´s take a person at the age of 68. Maybe he/she has been in love at the first time at the age of four years and it lasted for six months and then you add the next "in-love occasion", at the year of six and it lasted for two years and in those two years he/she fell in love with even one more person and it lasted for one year, I´m talking about being in love, not having a relationship, and then you add and add all the years beeing in love (lucky and unlucky love) and that means that a person at the age of 68 could have been in love for about 300 hundred years or even more.
That is a lot of experience. So when a person at the age of 68 gets married I´m sure that the person knows just what he/she is doing. That is soo beautiful!
It's hard, it's a hard...
"That is so funny to be married to one and wish you were with Dylan. That actually would be hard."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
No, not really. i'd never get the chance anyways.
That is hysterical: really funny
I broke off every engagement and now I am reconnecting with them all 30 or 40 years later and I am glad I didn't marry one of those cheaten lie'n fellas. Matter of fact unless I get a good one I mean lifestyle and loyalty then why bother.
That is so funny to be married to one and wish you were with Dylan. That actually would be hard.
"And then we have the
"And then we have the disussion about what a solid marriage is: it´s when your husband is not replacable with Bob Dylan."
Yes, but there is always a way around that: by putting a secret bob dylan clause in the marriage. My husband doesnt even know about it.
Not So funny
I guess millions of women have a Bob Dylan clause in their marriages. I wonder if they have Obama clauses, Santa Clauses, Prince William clauses, Justin Timberlake clauses, etc in their marriages. An acquaintance of mine had a Phil Spector clause and he murdered her. All of us gals were last together at a baby shower.
Lana was a sweet gal: at that baby shower wore braids and overalls. I can't believe it still. John Syke's ex wife ( thin Lizzy) gave the baby shower for 6 of us and Lana sat across from me. Being generational LA :there is an unwritten list of men to avoid around town in the 70's and 80's. Had I been at the House of Blues that night I would have physically restrained her and risked arrest to keep her from going to see Phil Spector's castle/home.
The retrial of Spector for murder in the second degree began on October 20, 2008, with Judge Fidler again presiding; this time it was not televised. The case went to the jury on 26 March 2009, and nineteen days later, on April 13, the jury returned a guilty verdict. In addition he was found guilty of using a firearm in the commission of a crime. Spector was immediately taken into custody and was formally sentenced on May 29, 2009, to 19 years to life in the California State Prison System. Spector will be 88 years old before becoming eligible for parole
THANK GOD THANK GOD. But it is too late.
A look at his rings!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQiAatOu5JE
And then we have the disussion about what a solid marriage is: it´s when your husband is not replacable with Bob Dylan.
So Bob Dylans wife is the one with the most solid marriage in the world because her husband already is Bob Dylan. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart!
With friendly love!
I think Bob is married
After reading a couple of these posts, I think some may get their hopes up too high in believing they could probably snatch up Bob, (with a little luck) but I don't think that is possible. I noticed Bob had a shiny diamond wedding band on the third finger left hand at the concert in Vegas. I believe he is taken. Not my imagination, I KNOW I SAW SOMETHIN'

You are sagefully poetic...a joy to view your messages.
the long haul
and 10 hours on a bus? its past dawn and the beach is calling on this unbelievable red indian summer sunday in november. maybe 65-70 sunny degrees. fate and i have rolled out the proverbial red carpet 4 our beautiful, sweet and handsome bob dylan. this ocean and i have sat at the shore waiting 4 him 2 come back. i think this day is screaming, HE IS NEAR.
well, at least we have philly tomorrow. :)
Boston Shows
anyone out there know if there is an opening band for the Boston shows?
backstage
You are so right, mkate. Good to read words from another who has had a similar longing to meet him. Love him So!
Fall Tour
Mr. Dylan brought the house down almost one year ago in Oneonta, NY. It would be a wonderful thing if it happened again.

Backstage
I really think you should forget your plans to attempt to ensnare Bob Dylan into meeting your boyfriend. If Bob Dylan wanted to hang out with people who idolize him all he has to do is put on his "Bob Dylan" mask and step outside.
I think your boyfriend really knows what a private person Bob wants to be and respects that, among other things.
When I first started really getting into his music I got all swept away. I have a couple of friends in the record business and one is very sucessful and the other one is more sucessful. So I thought of asking them to help me meet Dylan. It took me a couple of hours to come to my senses and, as I said earlier, realize that Dylan has met just about all the people he wants to. And if I managed to meet him he would only consider me another stalker...which would hardly bring the sort of conversation I would be interested in...and I am so NOT the sort who wants autographs and pictures!! Plus, it would cheapen the relationship I have with my friends. So as much as your boyfriend (and I) would like to have face time with Mr. Dylan is it really the best way to show appreciation to a man who has given us so much of himself?
New Look
There's nowhere to comment this on the front page, so its here, but I wanted to compliment the new opening look of the website - It is so Beautiful! Maybe the snow up there at the top of it will start to fall as the weather turns cold in real life too.
relax a few days, the midwest
maybe take a long bubble bath and wait 4 an exciting aries moon! the sun. the fun. it will turn chilly nonetheless. all saints day on sunday, thats always a good clear sign, followed by the feast of all souls. these of course preceeded by the night of all hallow's eve, the souless, or wandering aimlessly thru time. we pray 4 all the dead now, good, bad and fugly in chicago.
Dylan in SLC
Great Show (and I was in the very back)! He actually said "My Dear Friends" to us before he named out his band members (caught my ear :) Saw him night before in Vegas... not as good of a show (and I was at the front rail, dead center!)
i saw bob dylan in tampa
dont know what year it was but it was quite a romp. i remember some pirate named gasparillo and being on the eastern shore of the gulf of mexico and made 2 walk the plank. i came back 2 new jersey with a WHOLE lot of madri gras beads even tho it wasnt new orleans. i rather enjoyed the whole experience and fell in love with the soul of tampa as i am sure bob dylan would.
Meeting Bob. . .
Isbabyblue, What a fabulous surprise for your boyfriend! After he comes down from the high of the concert, I hope he remembers to tell you how AWESOME you were to make all the arrangements!
It's true, Bob doesn't do meet and greets, however; he DOES like to take walks, as we all know! Sometimes, it's before the show and sometimes after, but if you are a first class detective, you might be able to catch him then. Also, when he leaves the venue in his bus, you might catch him exiting the backstage road. I've heard he sometimes stands in the front of the bus as they're leaving. These are longshot ideas, but honey, if you're in the right place at the right time, PRICELESS!!!!! Good luck to you and your lucky boyfriend!
"In Bob we Trust. Got Dylan?"
hope everyone is settled
into kansas by now and fair weather clear 2 tulsa. its going 2 come down hard here in new jersey tomorrow, but a little water never hurt anyone unless u were the wicked witch of the west. so, kansas, dorothy, and toto 2. maybe i will bake some apple pie and wait 4 the set list.
the man must be made of steel or blessed in some gigantic sort of way. i pray 4 his peace and protection during the long haul.
It's funny...
...that Bob avoids Florida because he plays southern Ontario plenty-- his show at Kitchener on November 7, it will be his third in Ontario since August 2008-- maybe he's taking to heart, "gonna make a lot of money, gonna go up north/ I'll plant and I'll harvest what the earth brings forth" I've been going to Bob Dylan shows this tour started with, "Down In the Groove" in 1987 or '88. This show will be my eighth and I missed a few. I've only been to Florida once in my life and there's way more places I'd rather go to before I go back. Maybe Bob feels the same way. "The rules of the road have been lodged/ it's only people's games you got to dodge." Maybe you'll have to take a trip to a Bob dylan show. How close are you to Springfield, MO or Fairfax, VA? you can always check out good tapes of recent shows on youtube-- just not the same as being there....
Las Vegas sounds like it was
Las Vegas sounds like it was great! And smaller. Most of the places look really big.
This concert thing sure can be an up & down sort of thing. My partner/boss got us pretty good tickets for the 1st one, that he'll be going to with me, so that's an up AND a down, because I'm Going -Hooray! but will need to be on relatively calm behavior, even though he pretends he's a fan too. And then, its an up for him to buy me tickets for any others, but its a down, because then I'll have to fend for myself and fend can be kind of scary. Oh well- Its exciting to be going anyway!
Thanks Bob for a Wonderful Las Vegas Show!!!!!
You were WONDERFUL... The show was GREAT, you rocked and the WHOLE PLACE rocked!!!! You smiled and we smiled back. You laughed and we laughed back. You danced and we danced with you. You sang and we sang with you. You were so happy and enjoying life. You looked so handsome with your black outfit with your shirt ( and diamonds) glistening in the lights. Your hair was so curly and soft, your smile was like no other. Could not see the blue in your beautiful blue eyes, though. It was too dark, even when the lights were up, it was hard to see those gorgeous eyes. Blue like a robin's eggs (like Joan says in her song about you) You played the keyboard, harmonica and the guitar and we listened and rocked along with you as you JAMMED and tore The Joint DOWN!!!!

who is following what?
does anyone else check the weather and travel conditions from denver to kansas or wherever the n.e.t. is going? i dont want 2 feel so all alone. i know we all check the set lists, i am always curious what bob dylan will pull out of his musical hat and i also am curious as 2 what he wears.
it is safe 2 say he doesnt get motion sickness from all that travelling on the bus, but like an old lady i wake b4 dawn and immediately check travel conditions and where the tour is heading. i ask myself why? why does bob dylan continue 2 travel so much, putting sooooooooo many miles on the road? and the only thing i can come up with is the man is either a missionary or a thief. so here it is 4am and i wait patiently 4 a giant ball of fire 2 come out of the ocean while contemplating this mystery.
when i cry, i think of bob dylans life and what he is doing and then i dont feel so bad. i want 2 hug the people left on earth i love and let them know i care. there should be no lonliness, no despair in any heart. we all share the same sorrow, the same joy. u know, i know the sun will always shine.
so maybe that is why i follow the tour so intently, 2 bring company and have company and form a fellowship of some kind.
does anyone else imagine themselves in a room filled with bob dylan paintings? is there such a place on earth? i am dreaming of one right now...............
Salt Lake City
Great concert! Great show!
Mr. Dylan and the band really threw it down for Salt Lake City. They played a great selection of his work and kept us wanting more...more of his music and more of his amazing grins. They gave it big, all the way through the 15 song performance, including a high power finale.
Thanks Guys!
Why Does Bob Avoid Florida?
Does anyone with any ability to know have any understanding as to why Bob avoids Florida like the plague. He has played Norway twice since he last came to Florida. WTF?
Good Luck with meeting Bob
I go to Bob's concerts, and he has NEVER stayed after a show (not the ones I have been to, anyway). Right after the last number, he is GONE. He gets whisked away by security, and gets back on the bus and gone like a puff of smoke......
