Glenn - Yes there really IS an early entrance gate but in New Britain it was not posted with a sign or anything. I asked security and they directed me....
Pre-sale Early Admission

We bought pre-sale for the Washington, PA show and got in a half hour before the main gates opened. When you get there they'll have a early admission gate for pre-sale holders - you may have to ask security or somebody where that is. There's a code somewhere on your ticket that will let them know it is pre-sale, ours was the letter "B" at the top and the name of the minor league team on the ticket.
We walked right to the stage and watched the Wiyos (opening act) sound check after which they opened the gates for all general admission. We were front row all night.

I'm wondering if anyone is getting in early who bought tix through Bob's site? Is that happening? Thanks.

I'm going to one of the later concerts in the summer and just want an idea of a time to show up in advance in order to get a close view of the stage.

Better and better...
Just when I thought his shows couldn't get any better...Bob Dylan took it up another notch (or so) with this show and lifted us way up there with him.
(With the exception of a few people who don't get out enough and forgot how to act at a concert).
I was so impressed by the small town pastoral low key venue, the type of people it attracted, their behavior, and how it all intertwined with the music, that I could turn this whole experience into a blog.
I think I will, just as soon as I catch up with Life. I really want to write about last night, I've got to find the time.
If the guys onstage ever wonder what goes on out there in the audience, I can give a first hand account of one of the most amusing audiences I have ever held company with.
That's the Bob Dylan audience. Nothin' else quite like 'em! Always a surprise, and yet so consistent in their fickleness. One says tomato, and another says tammato, and there are always those Baffled Ones, but never ever call any of it off!

Great show
Another excellent show, first time for "I Feel A Change Comin' On" right? Some of us saw "The Oscar" behind Bob and expected to hear "Things Have Changed", but no... Oh well, another reason to go see him again!

What a pleasant night! The opening band was good. Willie has so many great songs. Mellencamp rocked. Bob was in good voice, much better than the last two times I saw him. John did a couple of "I'm getting old" songs and by the looks of the audience, he's not the only one. Of course I had to walk about a mile from my car and today my knee is swollen. So it goes.

I thought this show was great. While I enjoyed Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, I was there to see Bob and was NOT disappointed! Starting with RAINY DAY WOMEN, what a stroke of genius. I was especially delighted to be present at what I'm sure was the first live performance of I FEEL A CHANGE COMING ON.
I, too, noticed that there seemed to be a number of people leaving between Mellencamp and Dylan. These people just don't know what they were missing. But as I said to my friend I was with, "All the more Bob for the rest of us!"
As Bob ages, his fans are aging, too. It wasn't easy to spend all that time sitting in the stands (being on the field was out for my friend and me). I seriously doubt I'll attend another stadium event. But I'm already eagerly awaiting the next time Bob comes to an indoor venue in or near Connecticut. I'm a fan "through life!"
Murky vocals

Dear KBurns911.
It's true that John Melloncampgranada and Willie Nelson had clearer vocals
than Dylan. But those dudes aren't exactly famous for having much to say
that's gonna rock the boat. What important songs did either of those guys
ever write? Did John Cowgirl Mountainlion or Silly Willie ever write a song
that approaches in greatness "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll",
"With God on our Side", "Hurricane", or "Highway 61 Revisited"? These
songs helped to change a country. They changed the hearts and minds
of people, which helped to make the US a less racist republic, and helped
to stop the war in Vietnam.
I was twenty feet away from the stage and didn't have a hard time under-
standing the vocals. Occasionally a word or verse would throw me, but
a person can always buy Writings and Drawings By Bob Dylan, or buy
The Definitive Bob Dylan Songbook which has all the lyrics and music
up to last year. Also, if you've listened to each CD 50 times or more, you
would already know the lyrics as well as Bob. If you listen `100 times or
more you will actually become Bob Dylan! Also, this cite has all the lyrics
which you can read whenever you need to. So, all I can say to KBurns
is get busy and do your homework. Buy a guitar and learn how to play
it. Learn a few Dylan songs, and the next time you go to a Dylan concert
the words will be "as clear as an azure sky, in deepest summer set."

Bob's unintelligble vocalization
Dear Bob,
You're band was amazing. Any musician can hear and see that. Maybe I did not drink enough to understand your mumbling attempts at the lyrics, but I could hardly understand them. Maybe you should hand out lyric sheets to your audience so that they can follow along. Some songs like Rainy Day Women and Like A Rolling Stone I know, but the others, I could hardly understand what you were saying. The sound system worked well for Willie and John, so I cannot say that it was that. I heard many persons say that John was the best part of the show and I know for me he was. People come to hear you and you're best work. I realize that you want to play some new stuff, but us fans want to hear the good old stuff more, like Lay Lady Lay etc.
Oh well, thanks for the excellent play of your band anyway.
Thank you Mr. Dylan
A wonderful summer’s eve in New Britain that was nothing short of incredible
Mr. Dylan thank you. See you in the Woods.

Excellent show
Great show. Bob started with a great rendition of Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35 and the energy was absolutely there - not to mention some great guitar playing from Bob. The baseball stadium tour is interesting because you can essentially get as close as you want to - we staked out a posiiton only a couple rows back from the front of the stage and had a great view, spots enviable (and worth a lot of cash) if Dylan played in an indoor stadium or theater. The set started off great and settled down three or four songs in, but was strong start to finish. Bob was energized and gave the crowd what he wanted -- although he's so emotionally passive sometimes he even got a cheer when brushing something out of his hair during the encore. Highlights for me included very, very strong renditions of I Feel A Change Comin' On and a rippin' Ballad of a Thin Man. Good crowd, good tunes.
Amazing! Stellar! Hot!
Bob ain't goin' nowhere! Played a scorcher set...and was on top of every note, every move....and he smiled A LOT!!! I am so glad I saw that; I hope he felt our joy.
Was one row back from the front -- stood and jostled a few hours for the privilege, and I'd do it again anytime. We love you Bobby! (In case he didn't hear us last night....)
Come on back soon!

July 15 New Britain Concert
Glenn : Ballad of a Thin Man was to die for. We went in early and had our blanket kind of close to the stage, but by Bob's fourth song the "flesh press" up front was so intense that we had to escape to the bleachers. The sound was good, so it didn't really matter. Keep 'em coming!

I agree with all of the above comments, including the tactful description of Mellencamp. I found him to be unappealing but others liked him. Willie was his usual professional and endearing self, and Bob and his band were great!! I could not believe the number of people who left before Bob came on. I was also amazed at the constant flow and movement of the crowd throughout the 6 hours I was there. No one sits still and just listens to the tunes any more, I guess.
It was exciting for me to see Bob play guitar for the first 2 numbers, Rainy Day Women and Stuck Inside of Memphis. I could have died a happy woman after that. But there was still more! Ballad of a Thin Man! Highway 61! Like a Rolling Stone! All Along the Watchtower! Bob was in better voice than he was the last time I saw him in New Haven a few years back, but his quirky phrasing takes some getting used to. My only complaint was this: why does he keep including Tweedledum and Tweedledee in his set list, when he has so many many classic, brilliant, jaw-droppingly profound tunes to offer?
Rock Cats Stadium was a great venue, by the way. The weather was perfect, the crowd was well-behaved and considerate, and even the drunks were quiet as they were led out of the stadium. Don't know why the security people don't enforce the no smoking rule, but for most of the night the smoking seemed to be kept to a minimum.
Long live Bob and Willie!
fantastic!
Just got back from a wonderful night of music. The weather was absolutely perfect and the music was all good to say the least!
The openig band from Brooklyn (pronounced Wy-isos) I believe was very entertaining and well received by the near sell-out crowd...most of whom came in early. We enjoyed them thoroughly and in the beautiful sun the night was off to a fun start. Their cover of Little Walter's "My Babe" was especially good. They also brought out a friend to beatbox on a few songs which gave their sound a little extra something.
Willie came on next and had the crowd wrapped around his finger. They responded to his greatest hits setlist with enthusiasm. He did "will the circle be unbroken" with much crowd participation and that was a highlight for me.
Melloncamp was very well received, and his band very tight. But no Jack and DIane? Every other hit, so why not that one? One hour and change of him was just enough.....
Bob came on next and played a tidy one and half hour set. The rainy day women and stuck inside of mobile opener was tremendous. He then sat at the keyboard and ripped a great, great set. "I feel a change coming on" fromt he new album was just off the charts good for me. His band sounded great, the crowd respectful, and his vocals strong as could be. Jolene rocked in the encore and we went home very happy.
Security was fair and respectful as was the crowd. Plenty of puffers, but all seemed to be cool to those around them, especially theh many, many kids there. Much dancing, many smiles to be seen.
Bob Dylan on a beautiful summer night.... does it get any better?
Happy in CT!!!

I wonder if Andy Rooney will do a segment on the number of songs Bob does in his shrinking set list?
