Ive seen Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson play 2 shows together in the last couple years. Dylan had a much better performance at McCoy Stadium than at Yale. You could actually hear him. At Yale the music was louder than his voice, At McCoy you could hear both. I saw alot of people leave when Dylan came on for the last show. People should of expected what he sounds like, he's been using his current voice for 10 years plus....I love hisn new stuff and his old stuff. Dylan still rocks!!!

I've seen Pearl Jam three times so far (I'm only 21). But each time they are amazing. The first time I saw them was Dylan's birthday and they played "masters of war" and "forever young". Phenomenal covers. I wanted to go to Bonarroo so bad this year! but I am coming down to West yartmouth for the weekend. I'll see ya there!
Funny you should mention Pearl Jam...I have taken my sons to two shows down thru the years. First was Pearl Jam at Great Woods about 6 years ago ( the 3 shows where they played their whole catalog...we went to 3rd show). Very impressive, passionate band.
The second was to the show at McCoy Tuesday nite.
Neither one (one is 23 and the other is 21) has offered to take me to Bonaroo or Lollapalooza, which they have/are going to this summer. Ingrates!

haha Truce Capecod...I'm a Pearl Jam man at heart anyways. I'm always up for a good ole' fashion debate, even if I don't remember who I'm debating with. (I did blow all my tax return money on Mellencamp's discography when I was 15 too) haha
You were originally answering Cici's criticism, not mine...as I stated, I thought all 3 acts were perfect, and am still on a high from the show. I call a truce.
Look, I'm not a Willie fan. I only know about 6 of his songs and I really didn't know what to expect. I'm not tearing him down to make Dylan sound better. I'm simply stating that I did not enjoy his set. But I was, retorting to you stating that Willie put on a better show. I simply did not agree. He may not have spoke through the blue eyes song, but "Beer for my Horses" was definitely spoken through. Willie is fantastic at Guitar, which I did not know before this. However, I really did not enjoy his singing.

I've seen Dylan close to 10 times now & this one is right up there! I was near the front & thought Dylan was very animated.
I took my wife & 2 daughters (aged 10 & 12) but they were too young to appreciate the show.
I appologize to anyone who had to step over them cause they were sleeping on a blanket.
I thought the show was great. The only song I had trouble understanding Dylan was "Po Boy."
I loved "Masters of War." given the situation in Afganistan, I thought Dylan meant what he was saying.
I don't think we need to be trashing Willie's show. What exactly were you expecting? No covers? Willie has been doing covers for decades. And if you thought he was speaking the words to "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain", you just were not listening.
I saw him in New Bedford a few months ago, and he was much more animated this time, of course playing to a larger venue, but if you were expecting anything different, then you need to brush up on what to expect prior to attending a show.
Look, all of the acts are what they are, and they all delivered sets that defined their careers perfectly...I hate it when someone has to tear down an act in order to make their guy look better.
Willie's voice was flat, he spoke everything, and every cover that he did bled through my ears like nails on a chalkboard. Were you sitting in the nosebleeds? If you were in the standing room you could clearly see that Dylan was in rare form. He was smiling, dancing more then usual, and HE PLAYED GUITAR! I haven't seen him do that since October of '06. And I haven't missed a show in this area since then.
I'd like to know what show everyone else was at last night (especially "Specialdad", I mean, Rolling Thunder quality? You think??!!!!!!). I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan, I've seen many shows, admittedly only starting in 1997 or so, but old footage too.
Anyway, I've only seen one Dylan show worse than last night.
He was almost unintelligable at best, perfunctory to say the least.
Uninspired choice of songs, great that he mixes them up, as he always does, but he could have thrown in a few great ones that we haven't heard on B 101 a million times.
Willie, on the other hand, was inspired, worth the price of admission.
I'll see Bob next time he's around and I'm pretty sure he won't suck as bad as he did last night.
So I haven't been to a Dylan show since the MGM and I haven't been on here since shortly there after. But I felt like I needed to voice my opinion of this show. That being, that it was phenomenal. Not only was his voice better, but I feel each time I see him (this being my 4th) that the organ becomes easier to hear. We took my girlfriend's friend from work who is a huge Dylan fan, but has never seen him live. I was very excited for her that she got to see him dabble with the guitar just like the first time I saw him. I hope for many more shows in the coming months.

Pawtucket was my first Dylan show (and for that matter, my first concert) ever. After over a year of exploring Dylan's complete discography, I was looking forward to seeing the man live, and for the most part he did not disappoint.
It wasn't my ideal setlist, but I could hardly complain because I was enjoying myself so much. I find that Dylan's newer material is better suited to being played live, and many of the highlights from this concert were from the 2000s - Po' Boy, The Levee's Gonna Break, and especially Ain't Talkin'. On the other hand, many of the more familiar tunes - It Ain't Me Babe, All Along the Watchtower, Highway 61 Revisited - suffer from comparison. And I think we can all agree that Dylan's vocals aren't what they used to be. I could understand about 3 lines of Cat's In The Well.
Minor quibbles aside, though, I enjoyed myself from start to finish. Dylan seemed to be having a lot of fun, and his band was excellent. My first Dylan concert, but definitely not my last.
Since July 1st: 56 different songs, 19 of which have been played only once. The most frequently played songs have been Watchtower, Hwy 61, and Like a Rolling Stone, each played 13 times. Jolene has been played 11 times. Thunder on the Mountain, Rollin' and Tumblin', and If You Ever Go to Houston have been played 7 times, Spirit on the Water and Summer Days 6 times. I have no intention of continuing this data basing for the rest of the tour... just trying to get a handle on what to expect in Aberdeen. I'm sure I'll have a smile on my face throughout the show, regardless of the setlist!

the set lists i heard r drastically similar. i dont worry bob dylan changes it all up anyway however, i hear the same songs over and over AND OVER AGAIN. there is so much more 2 choose from and i wonder why he picks from bottom of the barrell.
confession: i dont care if he whistles dixie, i just like looking at him. he is nothing but a sexual object 2 me, existing only 4 my pleasure, his clothes, his fingers, his diamonds, his smile, his blue eyes that go on 4 infinity and beyond! if he didnt have these, screw him. bob dylans music is secondary, u heard it hear first. i love the man, his choice of music leaves something 2 be desired.
i find it strange that i am about 2 leave a hotel in pawtucket when at this moment bob dylan is waiting 4 me on the beach in jersey! i am coming bob, get a nice spot on the sand 4 us. smile.
Glenn Another stellar show! Given the abysmal weather forecast, we were absolutely blessed to have as little rain as we did! And blessed to be there as well - every act gave their level-best and Bob was the crowning glory. Bravo! - Glenn

It was a fantastic concert. On a level with the Rolling Thunder concerts of 30+ years ago. Bob's voice was stronger and more expressive than on his recent CD. He has even put a yodel in his voice as is heard on some of his early 'bootleg' music. Bob was the jewel in the crown last night. He was center stage and in charge. Three years ago I saw Bob in Las Vegas, the songs were unrecognizable and Bob stayed at the keyboard. Last night he was on electric guitar, harmonica and keyboard. And his keyboard play was distinctive and dramatic. The band knew the music well and Bob had the lyrics clear before he started sing. After each number the lights went down giving the performances a classic feeling and in the end there was a light show for many of us old hippies. Jerry Garcia's ghost sat in front of me for a while.
Willie came on first with a set that seemed low key and rambling to start but built to a crescendo. John Mellancamp was to me the answer to what ever became of? Reminded me of the hits and excellent songs he has written. The last time I saw him he was with Ed Grimly on SCTV.
Have no hesitation to go if the tour is in your area, I'd go again if I was rich and had a reliable car. I want Bob Dylan to have my babies so I can get out to more concerts.
With all due respect, you didn't hear the same set at any concert on this tour. Bob always mixes it up and puts some songs in and pulls some songs out...!
