If you extended a line from the center of the stage our seats were very close to that center line as well as being within 30 yards of the sound-mix tent. Not entirely by accident we were in a sonic "sweet spot".I heard "loud",I did not hear "screechy".If I did I would be happy to say so.In Constant Center 9/25/07 the first 3 numbers were "muddy".The problems were corrected for the rest of the show.Outdoors is more difficult to mix the sound."You pays your money, you takes your chances".It seems to me someone at the Durham show had similar complaints as yours. You may have been getting an echo-type feedback. How disappointing for you.Next time (if there is one) hopefully it will be better. When it comes to concerts I`m much more of an indoor guy.The best sound outdoors is probably an un-amplified big concert band.

To sum it up, jwkube says the sound was great on the 1st base side. We sat high in the bleachers on the 3rd base side (the better to view Dylan at the keyboard with binoculars) and it was loud and screechy the 2nd half of Dylan's show.
We sat in the bleachers along the first base line. When the show started this area was blessedly shaded. Our original plan was to watch the Wi-yos from there and then move to the stage area/mosh pit.Bet you haven`t heard mosh pit in a while. After one 100 proof Smirnof&7 quadruple,it was decided we would hold our seats due to alcohol induced lead-bottomness.From our vantage point, the sound was consistent and very good if not excellent.Mellencamp in particular sounded great. The accordion and violin were not overpowered by the rest of the band.I noticed no appreciable drop-off for Bob`s set. From our seats we had at least 9 quality all night,I`m not sure you can achieve a 10 outdoors.Sometimes people try to overpower their environment sonically. For an outdoor show I thought the sound ranged from very good to about as bloody good as you would hope or ever likely to get.

It is frequently mentioned that the sound was bad at Bob's show. At this show the first three acts were great from the last row of the stadium. If you watch my video on youtube, Make You Feel my Love was great. However, toward the end of the show, it was so FREAKING loud with extreme screetching from the steel guitar. So, since the other acts were great, I think it must be Bob's choice to have it like this. I can't even imagine what it was like near the stage. i wish jwkube would comment on this, too.
Just wondering, going tomorrow to see the show in Durham. Who opened, and how long did the show last? Tomorrows starts at 5:30, and starting so early I was just wondering about how long it lasted. Thanks!
The protective tiles of whatever material that were placed on the outfield grass would have worked just as well as on the grass and clay of the infield. To have the stage that far from the seats is something I have never seen before although I have attended mainly indoor venues over the years. If I could see Dylan anywhere in Tidewater it would be the Jewish Mother.Even if tickets had to be priced higher because of the smaller capacity it would be worth it.I won`t go see the Stones in a football stadium,I never pass up a chance to see Dylan. If he ever plays a similar venue again,I will know much better what to expect and how to prepare for it.In my humble opinion if the stage was placed closer it would have made for a much better show.Even so I`m glad I went. He`s 68 with absolutely nothing to prove.I don`t count on getting many if any oppurtunities to see him.

and thats why we need each other 2 make it complete. what i dont have u do and what u dont have i do. we share and have it all. isnt life wonderful?
right now bob dylan is long gone from these jersey shores. and listening 2 make u feel my love is bittersweet. i miss him so much i cry and i know in a few days i will have to put him out of my mind 4 a while just so i can forget him a little. i guess its the price u pay 4 bliss. the past two weeks with bob dylan have been wonderful and i wish it was just beginning. sighhhhhhhhhh
i dont want 2 seem possessive, so i guess europe can have him for the fall as long as he enjoys the travellling. i will just have 2 sit tight and pray 2 st. cristopher 2 carry him safely back home 2 me.
bob dylan is a gift from god, and dont u forget it.
Is there ever a "bad" Dylan show? No, but some are better than others. The stage was set in deep center field as far away as it could be placed.Who arranged that, the McCain campaign?Bob can write a song about it and call it "Girl from the next county".The LARS and AATW ending is finally played as in out.Why not start the show with them if they must be done?I haven`t heard "Isis" live in 31 years. There`s just so many songs he could finish with.I have a feeling this is the unannounced farewell tour.I hope I`m wrong. We`re all a day older than yesterday. Thanks Bob.Forever Young Jon

At youtube, search pbj2e to see very moving version with touching harmonica in 2nd half. Sorry for video jiggle when I hand flipvideo to hubby.
Bob and the band looked so sharp in cream and dark gray. Mellancamp looked sharp except for his "mom" jeans and Willie was WILLIE. In this version of Workingday Blues, you could feel the "trudge" of everyday - great!
The beat was "high spirited" for High Water. This version of Aint Talking dragged out. Made me wish for Forgetful Heart in that spot. 5,600 at the park. The paper says that was very good with all the competition in the area.
5,000 were still there when Bob played. All in all, it was all good!!!
Bob performed outstanding at the concert in Norfolk. The audience was getting into his music and with a mixture of older songs and new songs, he is still at the top of his game.

Can anyone comment on seating/sound for these ballpark shows? Is the sound better on the field, or in the stands?
Thanks

Why in the outfield!

In these baseball stadiums, during the season, I think it is to protect the infield. The article n the paper implied that.
