dylan being dylan....

1

Dylan's indifference to his audience has been one of his charms and has kept him vital into his social security years. That said, it is quite a sight to sit through two opening acts (albeit high quality acts) and then see a significant portion of the audience walk out after a few tunes by the headliner. We left after the seventh song and what we heard walking to the car was a consistent chorus of disgruntlement. The sound was way loud - ear piercing at some points. Dylan's vocal delivery was absolutely incomprehensible. The band was great.

Dylan's singing style in live shows (because it sounds nothing like his delivery on his recent records) has been a topic of controversy among fans. I, for one, like the changes in the lives shows. However, at some point a grunt that could be virtually any word in the english language is just a grunt. My guess is Dylan is secretly grinning at the cheers for these gutteral belchings. Starstruck, stage door fans have never been high on Dylan's favorites list.

I want Dylan to be Dylan and will enthusiastically scoop up all new music projects, but money is just too hard to come by to invest in a performance that literally hurts the ears and can not be understood lyrically (on any level). Ironically, the further away we got from the venue (as parking is quite a hike away), the better it sounded, but alas, Dylan's verbage was still something akin to the growl of a wounded badger.

Loved the show Bob! It was great dancing and watching you dance! I had a really good time. Glad I got to go to the pavillon vs Round Rock with tens of thousands of fans! I like the smaller, more intimate shows.

Woodlands V. Houston

Part of the sprawling Houston City limits, the Woodlands is an affluent section
( like where an ex prez might live ) in the North West part of town.

Now to Bob,

I appreciate you Bob,you are just too cool for school particularly when you are wielding your axe like on Leopard skin pill box hat, however that little ditty Summer Days was as smoking a song as has yet been played anywhere at anytime. Your damn voice has got to be the best Rock and Roll one on the planet today. Just work on your diction...... 'aight!. K, get to work.

Houston vs The Woodlands

Here at this official site, the concert took place in Houston. But when I read about it elsewhere on the internet, everybody talks about The Woodlands. In my list of recordings of this tour at the Watchtower I follow the listing of bobdylan.com as source, but is this right?

Here in Houston, Bob and the band were taking their final bows at approximately 10:45 p.m.

Hope that helps.

I'm flying in for the Grand Prairie show in a couple of days and would like to know about what time the concert ends so I can set up transportation. Thanks.

Ever heard the phrase, "Exceeded All Expectations"?.......

Well, that's exactly what happened last night at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The last time I saw Bob was in the early 80s in San Diego and I just THOUGHT that was good....Well, it was, but last night was soooo off the hook that there's no comparison. For starters, Willie was obviously very happy to be back in Texas, although Willie looks happy whereEVER he is. (I still get goosebumps when that big ol' Texas flag is unfurled at the top of "Whiskey River") But when Bob took the stage, and what a stage it was, things went into the stratosphere. Bob in his white hat and black outfit and the band in their black hats and white outfits were quite the sight to behold. And they were so freakin' tight, people...You just had to be there!! Of course, they just HAD to do "If You Ever Get to Houston". Other stand outs in my humble opinion, "It's Alright, Ma", "Highway 61", and specifically, "Summer Days" almost burned the place down to the ground. Bob sang that one like he was from Texas!!! Way to go, Bob. See ya next time!!

P.S. According the above-Set List, the opening number was "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat". Am I wrong, or did they open with "Watching the River Flow"?

If you got to go to Houston, Bob was fantastic!

Donnie Herron is the luckiest guy on Earth. He has the aboslute best seat in the house to not only watch Bob's every move, but to also talk to him between songs and no doubt hear his comments - which have to be priceless. The Houston show as fantastic. Bob sang like a bird and the band was really tight all night. I had the vantage point of being directly in front of Bob in the 3rd row and the sound was perfect. Lots of smiles all around. The highlight was Highway 61 - Donnie gave him a standing-o and a high 5. Absolutely smoking. Everyone knew they nailed it. It just does my heart good to be renewed by Bob's energy. What a blessing to be alive and get to witness this genius. I am so thankful. God bless Bob Dylan.

Incredible Night with three incredible sets

Willie was fantastic, John Mellencamp took me back to my youth, and Bob blew the top off the pavillion. Hearing Songs like Highway 61 Revisited and Like A Rolling Stone live are definitely new highlights for my life. Seeing the legend in the flesh was totally unbelieveable. Would have liked to see him stripped down on a song or two but otherwise was fantastic. This was my first Dylan show and I am not sure how anything could follow it. Thank you Bob.
