Good show

yeah this is like a month after the show yadda yadda yadda. I loved very much Bob's performance, but Mellencamp was the best as far as making it fun.
But to the people who said there was only one porta potty no there were permanent restrooms inside, I saw at least five separate ones with numerous stalls in each. unless you're talking about before going in, then yes there was only one.

Love that's pure hopes all things,
Believes all things, won't pull no strings,
Won't sneak up into your room, tall, dark and handsome,
Capture your heart and hold it for ransom.

You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drown love
You want a watered-down love

Love that's pure, it don't make no claims,
Intercedes for you 'stead of casting you blame,
Will not deceive you or lead you to transgression,
Won't write it up and make you sign a false confession.

You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drown love
You want a watered-down love

Love that's pure won't lead you astray,
Won't hold you back, won't mess up your day,
Won't pervert you, corrupt you with stupid wishes,
It don't make you envious, it don't make you suspicious.

You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drown love
You want a watered-down love

Love that's pure ain't no accident,
Always on time, is always content,
An eternal flame, quietly burning,
Never needs to be proud, restlessly yearning.

You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drown love
You want a watered-down love

Sorry I'm Late, but. . .

I have to put in my two cents worth! It was a tangled up evening, for sure. I met some lovely people in line and had a great time with them. It was true about the one porta potty. Nothing like the smell of boiling excrement in the hot afternoon sun! I had been waiting all day for my sister and niece to arrive from Washington to join me, but they didn't get there until just before Bob began his set. In the meantime, I enjoyed the Wyohs very much; they were extremely talented as well as easy on the eyes! When John Mellencamp took the stage, people began pressing closer to the stage and trying to elbow their way to the rail. I like JM's songs when I hear them on the radio and appreciate his patriotic spirit; however, he reminds me of an old friend's first husband, who had the same physique as JM, and a lot of the same mannerisms. Maybe it's me, but the word "cocky" comes to mind and I noticed that he had to turn his head and cough a lot during his performance. His band was very tight, but seemed to just be going through the motions. JM did a good job, but it seemed all rote to me. This is important to note because everyone needs to understand that when they protest that Bob doesn't perform all his songs the way they are sung on his records, they are shooting themselves in the foot, as JM's performance is testament to what we would get if Bob performed that way. In a word, boring.

As the stagehands set up for Willie, more people began rushing the rail. I don't follow Bob to every concert and don't consider myself an expert in concert etiquette, but I'm astounded by people's behaviour in these situations! What part of "I WAS HERE FIRST isn't understood? People who get to the venue at 4:30 am and wait in the cold, and then the heat ALL DAY to secure a spot at the rail DESERVE their place! Why do people think it's okay to elbow their way in and start screaming "I love you" to whomever is onstage? The ones who really bug me are the people who send their kids up to "see their hero for just a minute" when it's really themselves who want to squeeze in. I'm the first person to want to get kids involved in music and to see legends in the flesh. I took my son to see Bob when he was eight years old, even though he could've cared less about him. I can say that I didn't appreciate being called a bitch because I wouldn't allow 2 pre teens to usurp my place at the rail. They weren't there for Willie or Bob, and I am 99% sure that if I tried to elbow my way to the front of a Miley Cyrus or Jonas Brother's concert, I wouldn't get as far as they did. sometimes, folks, it just isn't always about kids. This was MY field trip and I earned my place, like many others. If you want to be up front, plan ahead and suffer the elements like the rail riders do. End of this subject!

What can I say about Willie Nelson? I've seen him throughout the years, with and without Waylon, and Merle, and Kris and who knows who else. The man oozes coolness from his skin and is the epitome of hipness. His face has taken on the beatific glow of a saint, and to actually see him up close playing his beat up, beloved guitar is something no one should soon forget. What a life that man has lead, and every story is etched upon his face. He is a master entertainer, but when he ambled off the stage, he looked tired and worn out from the exertion. I felt a little tug on my heart as I watched.

And then there was Bob!

Oh, the anticipation! I was thrilled to see that Bob was wearing a burgundy/hot pink shirt and black jacket, the same as my outfit, except he was sporting many more diamonds than I was! Ooh la la! He was wonderful, of course, but as the set progressed, I noticed he was getting more and more frustrated that his microphone stand kept drooping, and I noticed that he picked up the wrong harmonica a couple of times and then decided not to play it. He seemed a little off kilter after that. I didn't get to hear my favorite, "To Make You Feel My Love", but "Workingman's Blues #2", "Beyond Here Lies Nothin" and "Jolene" were standouts for me.

It was my first Northern California concert and I eventually hooked up with my sister and niece. My most fervent hope was that Bob received the dozen red roses I sent to him backstage.

In Bob we Trust. Got Dylan?"

1200 mile run

Got there toward end of Mellencamp, hope never to endure
that again. The venue blew chunks. Bob was good, very good.
Got a little variation. Went on to Rancho Cordova as I couldn't
be in Stockton any longer.

Tahoe was the Crown Jewel of the 4 Cali shows.

See you all at the Palladium in October.

Thanks Bob

I think this one his best shows in the last few years...I cant count how many Dylan Shows I have been to in the past 30 years. But I have never heard him play "Forever Young" at any of them Except this one. I am grateful everytime I am able to see Bob. I think it is great when he plays his older songs. Thanks Again Mr. Dylan

Thanks Bob

Cecelia, thanks for the help figuring out how to get on the field, I would not have been up front without you. The set and show were incredible, I enjoyed seeing the interactions between Bob and the Band. I cant wait till the Greek Theater shows. Forever Young

Music Great - Ballpark Sucked

The band and Bob sounded great. His keyboard had a unique sound I've not heard before especially on Honest With Me. I love hearing Beyond Here Lies Nothin' and Jolene live for the first time. From Highway 61 on out to the end they were smokin' hot and the sound was great for all of the bands.

I'll never go back to Banner Island Ballpark. The stadium people completely mismanaged the concert. There was one porta-potty available before the stadium opened for the expected 9,000 people attending. except behind cars or in the bushes. That thing got very ugly. We had early entry tickets which meant that we were shunted off into the stands 100 yards from the center field stage without the option of getting onto the field. Inside, the toilet facilities were also lacking and the stadium staff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and people got hassled if you tried to move around.

Ultimately, I'm glad I went and I got to share another Dylan concert with my daughter and grandson and good friends.

first time seeing dylan live...

...and it was amazing. i was in tears when he performed workingman's blues #2, and was deeply touched by beyond the horizon as well. i was practically dancing out of my seat when he did highway 61 revisited, and when he closed with all along the watchtower, i actually got chills. the entire set was such a moving, beautiful experience, one that i wouldn't trade for anything. i was hoping for a little blonde on blonde, but it was fantastic hearing some material that i haven't heard much of.

being 18, i was also thrilled to see how dylan's music has such wide appeal among different generations. not only were his older fans there, but there were quite a few younger children who seemed to be really enjoying themselves.

all in all, it was fantastic. willie nelson deserves kudos for his excellent performance as well, but bob was an emotional experience. i sincerely hope to see him again.

Ever been to Stockton?

Fresno nor Stockton are places I myself would go without both a reason and a map. The San Joaquin Valley itself along U.S. 99 strikes me as desolate, always has. It's partly the size; I'm used to feeling the shelter of nearer mountains. Then there's the heat and the miles of dusty, sandy soil littered with the fallen scraps of things long passed through: hubcaps and pieces of taillights, bits of exploded truck tires, bent and rusted sheets of corrugated roofing blown from weathered farm houses, the houses themselves now abruptly abutting frontage roads.
The periodic and sprawling development is like garish makeup painted on the face of a ghost.
... But I'm sure that's all just me, the place is home sweet home to those who live there. All places are home to those who live there. Aren't they?
The sound mix was much better in Stockton. I liked the set list better there too."Ballad of a Thin Man", so heavy both nights, hit me like a club. "Hollis Brown" was terrific in every sense of the word. The opening lines of "Highway 61" work especially well with Bob's new voice. The band really rocks the rockers; it's like ridin' in a Cadillac convertible across open country with the radio on. "Workingman's Blues" comes across heartfelt and sincere (I'm grateful for that one Bob). I was glad to hear so much of the new material. The arrangement for "All Along the Watchtower" is great.
It's 2:38 A.M. I just finished a 500 mile round trip. Goodnight.

Banner Island Rocked by Dylan and his band

WOW! Two nights in a row with Bob and the guys on top of their game. These last two nights are both in my top three shows. I really loved Watchtower tonight and Rollin' and Tunblin' was great as well. The venues was a little but undersized in my opinion and I hope if they do a tour like this again that they will stick to the larger Triple A stadiums in Fresno. Honest With Me and Higway 61 were standouts in this set list as well.
