Dylan's Debut Show of His New Tour . . Fantastic
No Rating
One of the best recent shows, certainly the best I've seen in years. Having seen Bob Dylan live in over 100 shows, he continues to evolve remarkably. "Ballard of A Thin Man" has lately been performed as if a sing-song trifle, but he put the song back into full power. The ending of the show was weak, however; "Rolling Stone" was a study in repetition without much emotion; he saved the emotions and best playing for "Jolene," which almost no one even recognized!
It was the first show I've seen him leave the Oscar on the table when he left; is it the real Oscar? It did not have the presentation base, so I doubt it.

Gonna change my way of thinking,
Make myself a different set of rules.
Gonna change my way of thinking,
Make myself a different set of rules.
Gonna put my good foot forward,
And stop being influenced by fools.
So much oppression,
Can't keep track of it no more.
So much oppression,
Can't keep track of it no more.
Sons becoming husbands to their mothers,
And old men turning young daughters into whores.
Stripes on your shoulders,
Stripes on your back and on your hands.
Stripes on your shoulders,
Stripes on your back and on your hands.
Swords piercing your side,
Blood and water flowing through the land.
Well don't know which one is worse,
Doing your own thing or just being cool.
Well don't know which one is worse,
Doing your own thing or just being cool.
You remember only about the brass ring,
You forget all about the golden rule.
You can mislead a man,
You can take ahold of his heart with your eyes.
You can mislead a man,
You can take ahold of his heart with your eyes.
But there's only one authority,
And that's the authority on high.
I got a God-fearing woman,
One I can easily afford.
I got a God-fearing woman,
One I can easily afford.
She can do the Georgia crawl,
She can walk in the spirit of the Lord.
Jesus said, "Be ready,
For you know not the hour in which I come."
Jesus said, "Be ready,
For you know not the hour in which I come."
He said, "He who is not for Me is against Me,"
Just so you know where He's coming from.
There's a kingdom called Heaven,
A place where there is no pain of birth.
There's a kingdom called Heaven,
A place where there is no pain of birth.
Well the Lord created it, mister,
About the same time He made the earth.

i came from vancouver island and met some very nice people in the two days i was there..everyone has stories to tell of shows theyd been to.. their expectations..their curiousity as what to expect...it was so much fun for me. Seattle is a gorgeous city with the old architecture mixed with changing leaves and quaint stores tucked away along the avenues... I was fortunate enough to find a place near the front and i was blown away by the energy on the stage.. Not Dark Yet was a complete and welcome surprise..yes.. this was a great beginning and those of you that see him down this road are in for a treat~!

Went to both shows in Seattle.....I "Saw" Bob at The Moore...I "Heard" Bob at WaMu.The Moore's a great old place that was built for performances WITHOUT Amps!(I think) Had a hard time hearing the lyric's but was close enough to see him grinning at Charlie while they we're jamming...WaMu sound was so much better...WOW....Bob finished up, kicking butt, taking names and bringing the house down with All Along the Watch Tower!!!

I'm seeing Dylan in LA next week. For those that saw him last night in Seattle, who opened for him?? I've been dying to know what band is going to be opening for him, because every time i've seen him it has been somebody awesome. Thanks Seattle!
An impressive set list!

DUDE! You must know by now that half the fun of a Dylan concert is that you NEVER know what songs he will pull out of his cowboy hat on any given day. GOD is Great!

I never had enough money to see any shows when Charlie was in the band. I had tickets to Eugene in 2002 but a car I had just bought broke down along the way. I just checked the setlist and realize now that I missed "Mutineer". Ach !, Senor, Moonlight, the other Warren Zevon songs as well as other rarities. If I wasn't going to the Moore show I might be real down about now. I can't believe I never looked at that setlist before tonight. I look forward to seeing the new lineup. Is it Stu or Denny that has left the band ? Whomever has left, thank you for your part in some wonderful music.

you know, i could have it wrong, so it might be worth a phone call to The Moore but i'm pretty sure that GA ORCH is the entire main floor...i was pushing the button pretty quickly that day! it's a small theater so all the seats on the main floor are good, some are just better :) i've always had good experiences at The Moore...a little funky, but all good.
it's pretty civilized (we're known for that here in Seattle-ha!). one line forms, tickets are scanned at the doors. i've never had my bag checked there so it's quick. you walk into the lobby and there are two doors to the theater on the right side. the lobby has beer/wine and snacks and there is a full bar downstairs. you can't take anything into the theater except bottled water.
i don't know if things will be done any differently for this show...
are you coming from out of town?

Maren,
Thanks for the info.
I wonder why they sold the Orchestra seats seperately from the main floor then? Kind of decieving...
Does the Moore allow the classic GA mad rush from the door to the seats where everyone scrambles and pushes down the old ladies? Or is it more civilized?

i've only seen Dylan twice - once way back in 1974 and again at Harvey's Tahoe this past August. It was very very cool to see him up close...I had 2nd row seats and they let the first 4 rows get up and rock out close to the stage. great energy...he rocked the house! i'm hoping to get up close again. i also hope it's not one of those "stand up, sit down" shows...as Colin Meloy of the Decemberists put it one night at the Moore "everyone stand up - this is a rock show after all!" i thought that was a great line :)
WAMU is a totally different story - it holds 8,000 and my guess is that they will remove the chairs in the main floor of the venue and keep seats in the terraced part. it's also general admission. it wasn't sold old the last i looked, but that was a few days ago...i'm also going but i'm not counting on getting up close.
hope your Arizona show is great too!!

ah...the million dollar question - how soon will people line up for this show. wish i knew the answer. i live in the suburbs of seattle and my plan is to go in at 11:00 a.m., check it out and then go play in the city and check back every hour or so. remember, there are no assigned seats and orchestra means ALL of main floor. so if you want to get close, i'd get there early (but not before me...ha!)

How soon do you think people will line up for this show? The Moore Theatre website says that doors open 1 hour before showtime, but should I get there at 3, 4, 5? My seat is in the orchestra...This is probably the closest I will ever get so I want to make the most of it.

Yeah I called the Moore theater earlier today and the seat number on the ticket is just for they're own records. Have you ever seen him live up close? I had 21st row in the Chicago theater, he always puts on the best shows in the smaller, more personal venues. I have tickets for the following show at the Wamu theater, but I wont be able to make it unfortunately, although I'll be attending his show in Arizona just after. Im not sure if the Wamu show is sold out yet bu if it is and you know anyone who is interested in 3 tickets let me know please!
seating at The Moore
No Rating
i believe the number on your ticket is just a number that is issued for tracking tickets, not to assign seats. from my experience at The Moore, GA ORCH is open seating on the main floor (there is also GA for the balconies - main floor is better). for the best seats i would get there early (there are normally lines for most shows), but i've also sat in the back of the theater and have been okay with my seats. but this is BOB and for me, that means i want to get close, especially in a place like this :)
~maren
oh, one more thing - normally they leave some room between the stage and the first row of seats...as soon as the lights go out, the people in the first couple of rows rush up --- i don't know if this will be allowed at this show or not...perhaps they'll set up portable chairs in that space.
im curious on weather or not

im curious on weather or not the orchestra pit seating will be set up. On my ticket it sais Orchestra seat 97, but i'v heard rumors that it is all general admission seating and that orchestra just means main floor?

my heart skipped a beat when i saw the posting for the show at The Moore! it's not as glamorous as its sister theatre, The Paramount, but it's intimate and funky-in-a-good-way...i've seen some amazing shows there and will be seeing another one this Sunday!! i saw him at Harvey's Tahoe and will be at WAMU Theater on the 5th, but The Moore - wowza!! yes, we are being treated to something very special...i'm counting the days!!

this will be the 6th time iv seen dylan, im going to arizona right after for another show. In chicago i saw him in the Chicago theatre 2 years ago, much similar to the moore, and it was 100 x better then any of his other shows, because of the venue. Have u been inside the moore theatre before? if so what is it like?
