Visit On the Eighth Day--Shemini and the prayer for rain
when you are in the presence of such humility and generosity and keen insights into the human spirit, you relax but it's thrilling
this guy really makes sense
I swear, that awareness of the human condition buoyed up by th'almighty salvation surrender, works every time.
Thank God the cantor, can tour!!!
they play their hearts out and he sings.
I don't know how they do it--so wonderful they do.
How you do, Bob!
This night certainly contained an extra day
the gifts of songs so anointing
it contained everything.
to hear stars,
to be ready,
to pray for rain.
to Change My Way of Thinking
Came home to the ranch, ears ringin' a bit
feet well off the ground all day!
That was one deep and abiding concert
a blessed night immersed in Dylan's gifts
beautifully sung Sanity of Spirit
all milk and honey, roasted and toasted
to perfection by Stu, Donnie, Charlie, George and TONY's divine faithful devotion to the music. Thank you sooooo much! allways
(here near Santa Cruz we received 8 inches of rain!!!!!)
Great Concert
This was my first Dylan concert. Great rockin' version of "Gonna Change My Way Of Thinking". Great to open the set with. The other highlights are great bluesy versions of "Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum" and "My Wife's Hometown". It is great to see Bob playing less keyboard and to see Charle back again. He also did a nice verison of "Hattie Carol". "Highway 61" was very rockin' and sounded very good. Bob's voice sounded better than I thought it would. He also has a very good band. George on drums had a really powerful and strong beat. I am 13 and have liked Bob for a long time. "Ballad Of A Thin Man was nice, but a little short. It was weird when the lights went off, Bob didn't say anyhing, walked off stage, and the lights stayed off for 20 minutes and nothing happened before the encore of "Rolling Stone", "Jolene", and "Watchtower". Bob should have at least left the lights on. I also thought the encore was a little bit short, but it was still a good concert.
isnt that near the emerald triangle?

u people have it soooooooooo good. to grow, smoke and share in relative peace. out here by this wild cold ocean they r very strict. u cant even have the scent of marijuana on ur clothes or u will be picked up by the cops. its a horrible pharmacuetical elitism that most of the power that be ascribe 2. pills and powders over that which grows from soil. they want 2 be the ones 2 pick ur poison. u dont even have the freedom 2 do that anymore.
maybe bob dylan at berkeley means something about the freedom of the past maybe a glimpse of what we hope it 2 be in the future. but 4 now seems like we r under the whip, afraid 2 blink, in fear of getting hit hard or poisoned 2 death. anyway the reality is we r in constant pain without our freedom and hope 2 get it back soon. dont give up the struggle, it brings out the best in people.
i love bob dylan.
All good
Beautiful night, beautiful crowd. Berkeley was so high last night, wish I could be there tonight. I hope he comes back to Berkeley again because I'll be there, best venue I've ever seen him at.
Groovy people, good music, it was all good last night. Best show I've seen of Dylan.
Best ever
The best Dylan show I have ever seen. Even better than 1974 with the Band. This version of Hwy 61 was the best ever as was Watchtower & Rolling Stone. His voice was strong, the words were clear & the band was at its best. Went with someone who is not particularly familiar with his work. They thought it was a great show also. If Sunday night is anything like the Sat night performance the audience is in for a treat. He was at his best whether on keyboards, guitar or harmonica. It's rolling Bob.
What it was, was...

Actually.... I was not that impressed with the show. What Bob Dylan is known for is his lyrics. He's an excellent story teller. I couldn't hear him singing. His band was much to loud and they over shadowed his songs. At times it was hard to recognize the old music because it was so highly overdone last night.
I suppose we all want Bob Dylan to be sitting on a stool playing an acoustic wearing blue jeans and I appreciate that's not where his music is anymore but this was really impersonal. He barely broke the fourth wall with the audience when he introduced his band.
Well, now I can say I've seen Bob Dylan live... but that's about it.
Too bad.
PS he looked like Carlos Santana last night with that outfit as well.
Bob on Steroids
Magic happened at the Greek last night. The best show I have ever been to, the energy still effecting me the morning after. We walked through the campus after the show, and I dont think my feet touched the ground. Hwy 61 was an out of body experience, and brought down the house. Life is best when one appreciates something, and has it to enjoy, and best of all I got to experience it with my beautiful wife. Thank you Bobby

Wow!
For me, tonight was redemption for the trip to Stockton. That was like a visit to a Gulag; hard to get to, terrible weather, horrible facility, unappreciative witnesses. I’ve seen about a dozen concerts. Most are memorable, but Stockton made me think maybe I was trying too hard to keep up seeing Dylan every time he’s near. (my apologies to you who follow him around the Globe.)
But… The Greek, is not Banner Island!! So, the crowd was much easier to be with. The weather was Bay Area coolish, not 104 degrees.
From the first note following the intro I knew this was a different band, a different Dylan. The band sounded so HOT! When Bob started to sing, his voice was the strongest I’ve probably ever heard. Beside Bob’s voice, I also noticed a very different sound from the guitar. Charlie Sexton seemed to light a fire, first under the rest of the Musicians but also under the Man Himself.
I’ve come to accept that Bob is not very emotive or verbally communicative during the shows. Whatever he offers beside the music has always been icing. But tonight, it wasn’t only the clarity of his voice that stood out it was the physicality of his Performance and Presence which struck me.
Bob and Sexton seemed to have a psychic connection going. Bob posed, strutted, gestured, pranced, and danced across the stage. Really!!!
Charlie Sexton was having a great time too as they collaborated on song after song. This brings me to the set list.
I was hoping it would be something fresh after Stockton (final concert after a grueling 29 date ballpark tour in the Summer) and I got it in ACES!! So did the rest of the crowd. The Greek was packed with the kind of People you can find in Berkeley, California!!!
I’m a Bay Area Elder. Born in SF in ’42 and have lived my whole life there and worked in the 60’s in Berkeley. It is still a Beautiful community, into the 21st Century. It felt so great to be safe in a community that had gathered.
Enough! Or Too Much!!
there is that killer set list again

I Woulda Gone Higher
but I ran out of stars.
Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll touched me to the soul. Followed by Highway 61. Plunge in the knife and twist it.
Mama You've Been On My Mind, oh my, how I felt that.
Glad to hear Gonna Change My Way Of Thinking. Sounds real tight.
Cold Irons Bound, I Don't Believe you, my gosh what a night!
The band sounds even stronger than Stockton, seems impossible but there it is.
Bob really put himself into every song, pushing the envelope and having fun.

What a show....high energy, lovely song list, great to see Charlie playing again; and really cool to see Bob coming out from behind the keys, playing guitar and harp, different vocal phrasings, and dancing. All of the above punctuated by running into many good friends from multiple eras of my life. The Greek is the best venue ever!
Thanks Bob, Tony, George, Charlie, Stu, and Donnie for an amazing evening.
Cheers,

Thanks Bob.
After many phases of listening to your songwriting over the years, I believe your current phase (in the last 6 albums) has been a career of it's own. I think it's one of my favorites. But also a lesson learned as well about how to reinvent songwriting again & again...
The set tonight was inspired. There aren't too many venues like the Greek to make a show special. But put this band in this UC Berkeley Theater and you have a night that is hard to forget...
By the way... Can you do a show with Ornette Coleman? Just once?
Thank you kindly for a great evening.
C U there
