This was by far the best concert I attended ever. I saw Dylan at Stockton on 15th August, it was a wonderful show, but this surprised me so much, because Bob Dylan has re-invented himself again.
The new Dylan is making all the moves on stage that he was too shy to make in his youth. I think that Charlie has come back possibly had an influence on this, because Charlie kept dropping to his knees in front of him, and playing to him like an angel. The whole band had a different feel, but the main difference was the song delivery. No guitar, he strode up to the mike, and it was not that he changed the tune, or the lyrics, it was the delivery that made me feel I was hearing Ballad of a Thin Man for the first time. He slowly unbuttoned his jacket, and his sexy moves had every female in the house in hysterics.
His moves when standing at the keyboard were also very surprising. He was getting down, legs spread out, and his pumping moves (not seen Bob do them before) had us swooning.
He sang 5 songs centre stage, with occasional harmonica breaks. His low toned harmonica sounded like the lonesome train, and he played it so sweet cant describe how beautiful a sound.
A few times he licked his fingers then touched the hair left and right on his shoulders. His outfit was hot too. He wore a short black jacket with gold trim, a light gold satin shirt, the jeans to the outfit were the low crotch type. At one point he pulled up his jacket, (I saw his boxers) then hitched up the pants a bit. (Swooned). He smiled when he made us scream. The jeans had a gold stripe, and occasionally the bling on his sleeves and collar flashed. His black boots were perfect. and the small black fedora topped it off.
He was laughing, dancing, and his moves were too sexy, Spirit on the water nearly had me on the floor. His body looks same as when he was 20. I had to think is this man 68, and got 17 year old girls screaming. Cold Irons Bound, and Thunder on The Mountain had the whole crowd jumping. Seriously he didnt look a day over 40, and his singing was the best its ever been. Wonderful, please come back soon Bob.
jo from ky
jo form ky in town visiting my brother with his Bobcat Hummer Tour business, and how perfect Bob was going to be there too! It was so good to see him centerstage so much and playing the harmonica. He seemed to be really enjoying himself. It made me think of my 1964 live cd without the Bob talk. Sexton and the band was great. It was easy to get close just get there early and wait. I love the way he is playing his new material. Forgetful Heart took my breath away.As always I didnt want the night to end. I hope he was having as much fun as it seemed he was. His voice was great. God Bless you Bob.
Superb !!!!
Just after he came back to the stage I ask:
How does it feel Bob? How does it feel? To be without a home... like a complete unknow... like a rolling stone!
And then he started to play a completely rearranged version of the song. You rock man!!! You really fcking rock!
The only thing I missed is not being able to bring a picture of your show to my mom, when I came back to Brazil. :(
Unbelievable. Beyond Here
Unbelievable. Beyond Here Lies Nothin' indeed, because I cannot imagine anything better than Dylan live in Las Vegas. Of course I don't live in Sin City, so no Depression mood here. The set was amazing - he played harp on nearly every tune. And he was much more animated that I've ever seen him. And the band rocked! At one point during a rocking Highway 61 I was actually banging my head a little. The crowd was pretty subdued, but the band hardly seemed to notice.
-"It takes one to know one," she smiles.
The Best
Last night was amazing. I loved it. Bob was so happy and into it. I had a blast just watching him laugh and dance. Set list was really good, and the band was phenomenal as usual. I cant wait to see him in Denver on Wednesday! Hope he will still be in a good mood.
It was like a DREAM!!!!

I went to the concert last night, but we decided "What the heck, let's go early" so we could walk around a bit. We drove til we got to the Hard Rock Hotel. We arrived around 5 ish, and saw this BIG beautiful tour bus parked on the side of the Hard Rock. We said "IT'S BOB'S TOUR BUS!!!" Well... we were wrong, because when we parked in the parking lot and started to get out of the car. All OF A SUDDEN, we saw this HUGE black tour bus pull up in front of the other bus. My heart felt like it was going to LEAP from my chest---- Oh my God... It WAS BOB'S TOUR BUS!!!! We ran really fast, but we were not allowed to get close to the bus, and my hands were SHAKING and I kept saying OH MY GOD, BOB IS GOING TO GET OUT. We waited.. What seemed forever was only a few seconds. Security was VERY tight, but we could still see close enough to watch who got out. AND suddenly THE MAN, THE LEGEND, HIMSELF got off the bus!!!!!! IT WAS BOB!!!! It looked like he had a hooded sweatshirt on. Oh my GOD.. ALL WE COULD DO IS LOOK.... I yelled HEY BOB!!!! and waved to him. I know he did not notice us, he just hurried inside the Hard Rock. with security around him. NEVER in my wildest dreams could we have thought we would have a close encounter seeing Bob getting out of his tour bus. He got off this HUGE bus by himself. Must be nice to have a whole bus to yourself.... People were walking by and asking us WHO'S BUS IS THAT??? We said "Bob Dylan's bus" They would say WOW!!!! Security thanked us for being nice, and not going crazy. First of all, anybody with COMMON sense, would not EVEN TRY to get close to his bus!!!! Second of all, who would be STUPID and take that chance??? NOT ME!!!! We went to the show smiling, and telling everyone who would listen that we saw Bob get out of his bus. The show was FABULOUS. Bob was JAMMIN'. He jammed and we rocked!!!! That place was ROCKIN' last night!!! It was soo loud the roof could have came off the place!!! The Hard Rock Hotel the Joint, WAS THE PLACE TO BE last night!!!! I can still feel the vibes from last night. The 18th Oct. 2009, will be the day and evening I will always remember in my heart.
Here is a quote from today's Las Vegas newspaper:
By Michael Mishak
Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 | 6:50 a.m.
"Bob Dylan smiled.
There he was, the self-styled cowboy drifter, poet laureate of rock 'n' roll, fronting a five-piece band at the Joint Sunday night, playing some down-home rockabilly blues and breathing new life into classics that got the middle-aged-office-job crowd swinging their hips and shaking some serious tail.
By any measure, it was a knockout. And Dylan, who celebrated his 68th birthday in May, seemed to love every minute of it."
This is part of what was printed in the Las Vegas paper today. Last night's show was WONDERFUL, and truly a night to remember.....
Like a Rollin' stone-

It's All Good
A little over a year since His Bobness last visited, and the world has, for the most part, 'gone wrong' since then here in Sin City.
Ah, but not last night.
Unlike last year's lackluster performance, Mr D was on his game and let there be no doubt that a good deal of that was due to the electrifying, and electrified, performance of Charlie Sexton.
Welcome Back Charlie!!
Too many great moments to count, but despite the fact the crowd was rather subdued (hey, it's Depression City here plus it was Sunday night) the performance was among the best I have seen BD give here in the last 10 years.
And turns out he was telling the truth years ago when he said he was a 'song and dance man'...as Bob was doing a little 'two step' to most of the tunes throughout the night. And smiling...
Kept asking myself...who IS this guy and what did he do with the dour dude who headlined under his moniker last year?
But then, hasn't that been the definitive Dylan question for almost five decades?
There are two things I know for sure, and maybe ONLY two, in these dark days here in Sin City. One: never bet against the House, and TWO: never write off The Bob.
Odds are both will be winners in the long run.
Thanks Mr D for last night, and every other one, where your tunes have reminded us that despite everything, "it's not dark yet..."
