WOW!!! I do not know why all this fuckers are complaining!!! It seems that they have not realized yet, that they saw the LIVING LENGEND!!! This is a person that you can only compare with Jimi Hendrix. John Lennon, or Jim Morrison. The best concert EVER!!! THANKS BOB!!!

Salt Lake City Concert

ddog....I have been to over 2 dozen concerts over the years....this was by far my second favorite! First will probably always be when he opened the House of Blues in Las Vegas - and Bono made a surprise visit on stage. Even though the Saltair venue is old, tired, run down and not the best acoustics, DYLAN rocked the house. He played guitar, keyboard, sang solo w/harmonica and was overall very animated. Quiet as usual, but in wonderful form. I decided to pay the extra for the Hot Seat pass...4 ticktets...but, we had a great spot right in the front of the stage and could view, hear and enjoy completely.
Song choices were a great mix of old/new - and I thought Bob's voice, particularly on Senor/Senor was unbelievable!! Can't wait to see him next. Hope to go and catch him on this current tour either in Chicago or New York. I DO however prefer Reserved Seating shows....gettin' to old to stand for 3 plus hours!!! Thanks Bob.

Saltair

I thought the concert was amazing. The venue could have ben better but dylan was great and the set list was great. It was cool to see sexton playing guitar up front. I also was at the very front so had a great time.

Doesn't Matter Where

I didn't mind the venue. Yes it would have been great to be able to have seen him but I take concerts for what they are meant for. Music. Which I didn't need my eyes for. I closed my eyes and imagined it was him 30 years ago doing the same songs. All around I loved it. And very few people were pushing through the crowd to get to the front which I also loved. It seemed like no matter where you were you could have a good time. Tanks for one of the most memorable nights of my life.

The Toilet Known As Saltair

I'll have to agree with you on the Great Salt Air venue; not much to write home about. I wondered how they snagged Bob Dylan, had his career hit rock bottom and that's the only type of place that would book him?

The answer is no, look at some of the other venues on this tour and they are first class and another no on his career at rock bottom, the show was great. He started out a bit rough and raspy but soon warmed up and you had to love that voice and the band was tight with a very nice play set, they rocked on Highway 61 Revisited. I would like to have seen something by Traveling Wilburys but I’ll live with what was presented that night.

I was somewhat surprised by the number of young people in the crowd but then again if you look at the musicians he had been involved with early in his career, George Harrison, Sam Cooke, Joan Baez and then the ones in the latter years such as Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones and Los Lobos how could they not be attracted to the person and his music.

Even in those less than swell surroundings you had to appreciate who was on stage and the man himself. A singer-songwriter, musician, poet, painter and the recipient of awards such as Grammy, Golden Globe, and Academy Awards and on top of that a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. The biggie being the Pulitzer Prize jury awarding him a special citation for what they called his profound impact on popular music and American culture, “marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power”

All in all it was a memorable night and yes, even the venue will be remembered but not in the positive way Bob Dylan will have been.

How did this venue get

No Rating

How did this venue get chosen? Acoustics sucked, even with your top notch equipment. I'm 5'4" and couldn't see in the crowd, had to back way, way, way back in the room to see anything. Fortunately there the sound was a bit better. Access to the venue off the freeway was dangerous, backing up onto I-80. The venues parking a mud filled field, which the venue had the audacity to charge for.

Bob - if this gets to you or the ones who do the bookings -do us all a favor and book the next indoor concert at Abravanel Hall (2700+ capacity), Capitol Theatre (1800+) or Kingsbury Hall (1900+). All much better venues with better sight lines, better acoustics and easy access by car or public transport.

I did manage to enjoy myself still. Setlist was great. Bob and the boys were in top notch form. I will be return...if you chose another place. Not sure anyone can get me back to that toilet again.
