This concert was a complete pleasure in every way---Bob's vocals, the band, the venue. Angels
howdy from YNP ...
Does anyone know if this show was authorized to be recorded?
I would really like to obtain a copy.
Thank you :)
And thank you, Bobby, for giving so much over the years.
I was just a kid when I first heard you back in the early 1960s.
Love you!!!
The Man in the Long Black Coat burns nag champa every night. . .

and if you aren't finding what you're looking for her, bluesforthemasses, perhaps the local newspaper will have the review you want. What goes on here is exactly what should be happening; people describing their feelings and experiences and the general vibe at each of Bob's shows. Everyone is different. That doesn't make them stupid just because what is written isn't what you are looking for.
Kate- I love that song; thanks for posting the lyrics! Have you heard Joan Osbourne's version of it? Beautiful!
"In Bob we Trust. Got Dylan?"
I was front and center.
I stood and watched history. I got to be part of it, and I will never forget it. What more can I say that will say more?
first Dylan show and he plays my favorite song!
I bought the tickets the day the of the presale, not knowing what to expect. I was so nervous that I started crying when Dylan walked out on stage! And then the second song he plays is my favorite Dylan song of all time, It Ain't Me, Babe. I had dragged my best friend with me (she's not so much of a fan) and even she said it was a good show. Walking there in the snow was well worth it. If I ever get a chance to see him again, I will definitely go, but otherwise I am glad I got to see him this once.

your posting to a bunch of concerts & your postings are meaningless? Looking for reviews of shows and real reactions from first-time Dylan fans - thsoe are fun - yours are stupid
Thank you, Bobby :)
Mr. D. continues to get better with age.
Love ya', Bob ...
The future is blind
After seeing what was supposedly the best Bob concert in years at the Joint in Las Vegas on Sunday, I didn't know what to expect for this one in snowy Colorado. It was phenominal. All though I did enjoy the set list from the Vegas show more, the performence from both Bob and the Band was just as animated and enjoyable. And Bob looked his best in his striped trousers, yellow collered shirt, a silver bolo tie, black jacket and hat. Bob might not have been smiling as much but he was definately dancing alot more. The moves he pulled in front of the mic put my 19 year old moves to shame. There was a big stupid grin on my face until the minute I fell asleep that night. The song that really got me pumping was High Water, man was Bob rocking the rink. Comming up on Ballad of the Thin I knew my time with Bob was almost over, so I rounded up my gear and headed out side after LARS. I walked around back and waited by the running tour busses. As I watched Bob and the band file in to the two seperate busses I couldn't help but wonder about the next time I will be able to see the one and only Bob Dylan. I can't wait to see where Bob drags me next.
First Dylan Concert
A great show. I felt like he was really on the mark and having a fun time with the band. Cold Irons Bound, Thunder on the Mountain, Spirit and everything from the three song encore were standouts. I loved that Dylan can still rock and roll when he wants to. The newer songs sounded so good he could have just picked songs from the last decade and it still would have been a great concert. Of the classics he pulled out, Stuck Inside of Mobile and Most Likely You Go Your Way were my favorite. Great show. Hope he comes back around again soon.
Loved the Denver Show!
I have seen Dylan 50 times and this was one of my favorite shows. I must admit that I had a chip on my shoulder about seeing him at this terrible venue ( a college hockey rink) but it sounded great and he was in such a great mood… dancing around, smiling and overall sounding FANTASTIC!
I took my boyfriend, it was his first Dylan concert and he LOVED it too. I warned him that this might be an “advanced” Dylan show because I have seen him at crappy venues and he can be kind of bratty and his voice quality can be bad; not the other night in Denver, he rocked! I swear when he plays with Charlie, they invigorate each other. I had such a blast my cheeks still hurt from over smiling all night. Thank you Bob Dylan for such a great show and for being my rock idol, I love you!!!

The concert experience made me really reflect how I have perceived Dylan. I've heard the music, seen the documentaries, read the lyrics and have been fascinated by this man and his talent to tell a story so creatively and poetically. He starts to become larger than life in my head as a founder of what music is. It was surreal to see him on stage as i processed that THAT was the guy that created all of those awesome songs I've heard, THAT was Bob Dylan. Seeing him in concert, up there on stage with people he enjoys the company of, smiling, joking, and playing awesome music with them also showed me that he is a real person. He ages like the rest of us, has to check his notes to see what song is next, bops along to the music and is probably wondering what he can find to eat after the show. He is an inspired man with a song in his head and he is driven and devoted to sharing that with the world. He became a real person to me as I watched him and not just a legend or character that media has created. I loved the concert and was happy to see Dylan enjoy singing and playing his creations.

but i believe it was nag chompa that was burning and u were smelling.
"We love you!!!"
I expected excellence.
What I received far exceeded my expectation.
My emotions were so high ...
Unable to control myself, my body and mind were one with what was emanating from the stage.
Workingman's Blues #2 momentarlily froze me while tears freely flowed.
I was being made love to ...unceasingly.
Thank you, Mr. D., for a delightfully "pleasurable" evening.
:)
Better than last time
This was my 2nd Bob Dylan concert in a year, and 2nd in my life. I saw him at Aspen Snowmass Jazz Festival Labor Day weekend 2008 and that experience was awful. I couldn't tell what he was playing, the band was way too loud, we were getting trampled on by rude, drunk/high, jerky people, and I couldn't see anything.
Last night by comparison, was a 100 percent better show.
The band was tight, Bob was animated, dancing, smiling, out in front on stage. He played guitar, harmonica, and keyboard. At Snowmass last year he only played keyboard and hardly moved or smiled.
I loved the show, the experience this time. Even the crowd was well-behaved (can't say that about last year). I was so glad, too, because my friend came with me and this was her first Dylan concert. We were so into listening and watching him and the band having fun (or at least it appeared that way) that the night went by so quick. I could've sat there for another 2 hours.
It was a great night. I'm still humming/playing Workingman's Blues #2. In fact, I had to play the whole Modern Times and Time Out of Mind CDs this morning and tonight. Can't get those songs he played last night out of my head.
Hope you can come back to Denver next year, Mr.Dylan.
Thank you for a great show and a great memory.
Bob Dylan; Charlie's back!!
Fabulous only begins to describe tonight’s show! This was the best show of five I’ve seen in 12 years. Fans from 17 to 70 had a blast. Dylan was animated, had a pep in his step and genuinely looked like He was having a good time. The addition to the guitarist Charlie Sexton might have something to do with it. Before I left tonight, I told my wife and work manager (a major defense contractor) that if I got hired as a Dylan Roadie, I may not be back for a while. This is one time I wish I was out of work to follow Dylan to Kansas and beyond!! Seriously, where is the roadie application Bob? If you have the chance to see this show, do so, you won’t regret it! Thanks Bob!!!
Best wishes,
Navajoe

Awesome night in Denver
Bob brought it last night in Denver, the band was smokin' as well. I had great seats but also brought binoculars, which turned out to be cool because I passed them around and everyone was thanking me (No big screens at the Magness Arena). I didn't want the show to end, but 17 some songs later it did. Bob Dylan is a true class act and a legend, his voice was strong and the sound was mixed perfectly. A great night indeed.
An Excellent Show
This is my fifth time seeing Bob Dylan and it is, hands down, the most consistently excellent show of his that I've ever seen. We all know that it can be hit or miss with Bob from night to night (and even from song to song), but the performances at this show were uniformly excellent and the setlist was inspired. I loved the heavy emphasis on new material and pulling out "Man in the Long Black Coat" was a real treat. The highlight, for me, was the powerfully moving tandem of "Cold Irons Bound" and "Workingman's Blues #2." The quintessential performances of the evening.
I and everyone else at Magness Arena were treated to a top quality show. I don't know if it gets much better than that.
Does It Get Any Better?

Last night was my 4th Dylan Show, and it was quite possibly the greatest thing I have ever seen or been a part of! I found Dylan and his music only about 10 years ago, and at the age of only 30 I have become one of the biggest Dylan fans. I own every album on CD, some on vinyl and am working to get my hands on anything else he has done! Last night showed me that nothing on CD, vinyl, DVD, or any other media can compete with the raw awesome power that comes from witnessing the man himself live in concert! NOTHING touches Dylan! The only thing or experience that might compare is to see God himself (or herself) descend from the sky.
That was the most kick-ass, compelling, heartfelt, humbling, shocking, powerful...(this list could go on) show I have ever seen!

Surreal. Strange. Unexpected. Powerful. Awesome. That in essence is Dylan. As the world seems to have known for 40+ years whatever Dylan means to you or whoever you think Dylan is as a musician, there’s one man to constantly challenge any notion or idea that you so badly want to form, have and hold about him and the Dylan mythos: Bob Dylan.
Bob Dylan interpreting Bob Dylan interpreting Bob Dylan challenges you like modern art and seems to scream, “stay away, go away and keep all your preconceptions, biases, and judgments and projections out of this scene, you don’t belong here!” But it’s too mesmerizing, too attractive, too curious, disarming and inviting, it (unfortunately I can’t quite explain what “it” is) pulls you, stops you, tears you apart until you’re naked and you’ve forgotten what it was you were doing, what you came to see or what you thought you may hear and then all of a sudden, there you are, you ease in, or perhaps give up, surrender? And you let this old song and dance man take you through his journey, through his craft, on his terms. It’s simply entrancing and you’re there.
It’s not quite a show, it’s certainly not a production, it’s not an event or an act or a sideshow. Truthfully I am not quite sure what it was that I saw last night, but I know this: it was surreal, strange, unexpected, powerful and awesome. If you you’re looking for a review of songs at the concert, I’ll leave it at this: Dylan’s interpretation of All Along the Watch Tower would make any Dylan true believer cry and force a contemplation of a Dylan catalogue burning. Thanks for being real Bob or maybe thanks for keeping us real!

Last night was amazing, and satisfied a lifelong dream of mine to see Dylan in concert. The 1965 singing voice was missing, but forty years of life have not diminished his obvious enjoyment of performing.
Long may he wave!

How do you describe something that you waited for so long to experience, and make sure the analysis is accurate and complete, even if the effect is still not over !!! It will take weeks to really feel everything I saw and heard last night. I am so hungry for more I am considering some hairbrained scheme to attempt a road trip to see Bob in Rockford or Chicago, even if it comes at a high price !! Calling Uncle Neal, are you game ?? Stay Tuned !!!
Kate, it was somber !! and also at times so high energy I felt waves of Bob vibes cascading from the stage that were simply electric. I did'nt think he'd play "61" but he did, I counted out "Thunder" too because he had played them recently before !! Much like shaking god's hand !!! I must admit that I wept for Merle when he did "Workingmans" God bless the "Hag" !! and it got misty also during "When the deal goes down" remembering lost family members. We all wear the same thorny crown !!!
The band was drumtight, the stage was elegant, but still simple, and the mood was set before the show by a stagehand who was lighting either scented candles or sagebrush/frankenscence (sic) thus allowing all participants to enjoy their own smoke show !!! lol !!!
The only trade-offs in the night were a half house attendance and lack of an opening act (I dunno, mebbe I missed something, but was there when the show was supposed to start ?? ) other than that it was just incredible !!! Thank you Bob for sharing all your experience with me !!! WheelHoss

Great Setlist.
I hope he comes back to Glasgow soon. He was here in may but he didn't play any new songs.
Also, Charlie is back!
I saw the Charlie / Larry line up on guitars in 2000. Wow!.
Don't care what anyone says, They two guys blew any other guitar players Dylan has had out of the arena. Including Robbie Robertson or Mike Bloomfield. Or even Carlos Santana.
Come back to the UK soon Bob if you get a chance.
The gig at the SECC in May was outstanding.
Go to the archives people and check out the setlist for May 2nd 2009.
It was the best setlist of that tour.

Crickets are chirpin', the water is high,
There's a soft cotton dress on the line hangin' dry,
Window wide open, African trees
Bent over backwards from a hurricane breeze.
Not a word of goodbye, note even a note,
She gone with the man
In the long black coat.
Somebody seen him hanging around
At the old dance hall on the outskirts of town,
He looked into her eyes when she stopped to ask
If he wanted to dance, he had a face like a mask.
Somebody said from the Bible he'd quote
There was dust on the man
In the long black coat.
Preacher was a talkin' there's a sermon he gave,
He said every man's conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it's you who must keep it satisfied.
It ain't easy to swallow, it sticks in the throat,
She gave her heart to the man
In the long black coat.
There are no mistakes in life some people say
It is true sometimes you can see it that way.
But people don't live or die, people just float.
She went with the man
In the long black coat.
There's smoke on the water, it's been there since June,
Tree trunks uprooted, 'neath the high crescent moon
Feel the pulse and vibration and the rumbling force
Somebody is out there beating the dead horse.
She never said nothing there was nothing she wrote,
She gone with the man
In the long black coat.
