I think we got a rare one and a good one at that. I had a great time, but the substances maybe took away from me catching all the good stuff being thrown out (played) by Bob and the Band.
Love this website too.
BAMBI
mmmmhmm I was late cuz halfway 2 the show I realized I 4got my ticket at the hilton and had 2 turn around. So I was up on the second floor behind a bunch of people and that was as close as I could get. Tho I was far away bob looked dang fine anyway! At first I couldn't stop sayin 2 myself "holy freak holy freak holy freak". His getup was banging, from my view the orange looking stripes on his pants really stood out, he almost looked like he had reindeer legs. U can call me Bambi! His face just looked like a hot white mask with big eyes and a hat on top of his head. Bob reminded me of a Jabbawokee reindeer wit his sweet bumpin and grindin up on his organ. The show was sooo sexy that afta the show I went 2 the hilton fell asleep and had a tempting dream bout him.

You have GOT to be kidding!!!!
Bob Dylan was, is, and always will be AMAZING!!!!
And he was especially so on Friday night....
Excellent.
We love you, Bobby.
Friggin' Awesome
Holy Cow. I can't believe someone down below thought this was a poor performance. This was my second favorite show of the year out of 4, bested only by the Halloween show the next night. The setlist for this show was anything but standard with rarer gems like The Man in Me, Sugar Baby, and of course, the sublime Every Grain of Sand. Po' Boy which was never one of my favorite Love & Theft songs was performed with a new tender, sweet arrangement that just dripped with honey. I thought the sound in the place was dialed in great, the band performed well and Bob was in great form. My trip to Chicago was well worth it; wind, rain, and all. Thanks Bob!

WOW !!!! "poor performance" I guess much more so than ever, I realize that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. I was 12 ft. from stage dead center, 30th and 31st. the show on the 30th hit me like a thunderbolt, matching any of the 13 Dylan shows I've seen now for inspiration, spirited performance and killer setlist. I guess maybe somehow You could argue that these shows lack some of the nuance and subtlety maybe of some of those 90's shows, but these shows were as fine really as any I've seen in person from Bob or any other artist for that matter.(quite concerned about it seeming like I'm bickering here, hope not)
A SONG AND DANCE MAN
What a show! What an entertainer! I took my son w/ me to Chicago to see Bob Dylan and his band at the Aragon Ballroom and they really rocked! I really love Bob's band's current sound. And Bob looked surprisingly young --and still so darned cute! And my dream came true: I was standing (there were no seats at this venue) front & center of the stage and (o-m-g!) "THE BARD" HIMSELFcame over and stood right in front of me & looked me right in the eyes & smiled & gestured to me as he sang 'The Man in Me"...I just melted. He was masterfully pulling at my heartstrings and I was loving every moment of it. I couldn't stop smiling and gazing dreamily into those amazing blue eyes as he just kept singing and gazing right back. My son's jaw dropped--He later told all of his friends "My mom was flirting with BOB DYLAN--and HE was flirting BACK!" After the concert was over and my head came down out of the clouds, I wouldn't have believed it myself (pinch me!) except others around me saw it, too!!! What a thrill for me...It was awesome! --I will never forget how special he made me feel for those few minutes. I definitely got what I paid for!!! On a more serious note: Bob Dylan's life work is a gift from God that he so generously still chooses to share with the rest of us. Go to a concert & see him if you can. But please leave his private life private. Just enjoy his music and poetry for what it is. He is truly a master showman (a song & dance man...lol) and a national treasure. Thank you, Bob Dylan, for the wonderful memories of Oct. 30th at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago!!!

My neighborhood tonight 200,000 people in West Hollywood. I will walk out there later as I live near the scene. I think I will Photograph it for my blog. You can't believe the Hollywood creations--professionals
I am heading to Paris and can't take time off from work for NYC otherwise we could invite Kate to join us in NYC. I am allready taking time off and parrots have to be boarded etc---Maybe next year a group of us could plan to meet somewhere for a concert?
Unless he retires??

...sometines it depends on where you're standing....is what I found. Tonight, try moving around ~~mingling ~~meandering. Give up your seat to an old lady, maybe? I wasn't there so what do I know, but the one I did recently attend, had a wide variety of sound quality (from get me out of here! to OK, I'm home, leave me alone!) depending on where I roamed. Hope that helps, hope you find your sweet spot!
And, Oleanders, I am shocked! What are waiting for ~Autumn in New York?!<3

Where are more photos of that "Babe" Charlie? Call me shallow I don't care.
Where is the kid with the reliable setlist comment? Kid I like your stability.
Kate defend our Bob please?
I have have seen none of Bob's shows and I know each and every one is good.
Maybe the rent was cheap in that place, ore they had good parking, or it was near the freeway, or they flipped a coin, or the tour manager gets a kickback, or write the tour manager and ask why he chooses the places he chooses???Would be interesting to know anyway.
A poor performance

Let us be honest.
I have been to about 20 Dylan concerts over the past 5 years and this had to be the worst one.
First, the Aragon is not appropriate for Dylan's music. Everyone is standing and unless you make it early (which we did) you are not able to find a seat, since there are probably less than 200 chairs available.
But we did get there early and we did get two chairs, front row on the balcony...about 100 yards from the stage. Needless to say that we had a great overhanging view of the .... ball room.
The acoustics were awful and at times high notes were really unpleasant to the ears.
I am an experienced Dylan concert goer and know to wait a few minutes before naming the songs he is playing/singing but this time I had to disappoint my wife and friends and gave up on half the songs he played. Not that I did not know them, just that they were undefinable for the most part.
Luckily for us, he played about the same last songs he played in the last 10 concerts (thank you bobdylan.com for sharing set lists with us) and I knew to expect "Like a Rolling Stone", "Jolene" and "Watchtower", which were a bit better than the rest of the concert.
Frankly, it was a disappointing performance and I hope that next year Bob will pick a better concert hall for his music.
P.S. I have tickets for tonight's show as well and of course I am going back....

I've got a smile from ear to ear
okay maybe not but I'm so happy that i can watch my baby from a distance like some cozy routine. And don't you know there's nothing routine about his live sets. I found Jolene from last night on youtube, sounds great and jazzy. From my view this chapter is on fire..just listen to those organ fills.
Wish I was there, had work requested off too. The Psy. reader said things would fall apart last minute so I opted out, and felt also I couldn't get close to the stage. Aiming for Detroit or something..
It's only getting hotter
Love to you,

I guess for me, that's basically what tonight's show was, A Celebration of Life. From reckless fun to deep reflection, from joy to sorrow, from longing to fulfillment and from honey to cod liver oil. It was all there.
For me just and unbelievable performance and a wonderfully friendly crowd..............Peace............crazyjoe

I would like to estimate how many songs are on the list of "deeper cuts". There is a steady rotation/position of consistant songs in the setlist, in the same position every night, thats cool... all artists do that. The "deep cuts" may be from a list that contains upwards of at least 25 to 30 songs that give each night a fresh vibe for Bob, the band , and the fans. That is the true magic. Not too many artists do that. In fact hardly any. I always yearn for that when I see my fav-o-rite bands/singers, but I am usually frustrated when it's the same songs every night, every tour. Bob's canon of work is vast, and I am humbled by his ability to remember the words to all those songs. And as a writer thats not too hard to do, but his writing style is for more poetic than any other writer I know.
Bobby, If you're reading this, please play "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts sometime. I really like that song. And I hope that I will be there when you play it. That would be epic !! Just one kind favor !!!
Cousin Danny up in mean ole' Frisco, we got to rap some time, way too much water under this bridge, and Bob is the bond to bridge that gap !!! I really miss Chicago tonight.
