mmmmhmm WOW WEE! WHOA HO HO
mmmmhmm WOW WEE! WHOA HO HO HO DADDY ROCKED ME! Lay Lady Lay was the most special part of the night cuz he looked at me when he sang it, ha ha! The whole night was dope tho! I shook my pussycat tail till the music stopped. Dylan has a fine looking way of playing his harmonica, he kinda swings one of his arms around like he's slapping sumtin, totally sumptin 2 c! He looked HOT with yellow stars going down the side of his pants 2. I just wish I could have got close enough 2 see his shoes. Sometimes he kinda spits when he sings and i was thinking, I want him 2 spit on me, ho ho ho. I am so glad he played beyond here lies nuttin cuz its kinda a spooky song, perfect for Halloween! I love Bob Dylan.

This was our 9th and 10th times we've seen Bob since 2006. We've never seen any shows that were better! These two shows even top the Election Night concert last year. Charlie Sexton has taken what was already a great band to another level. His talent (and he is very talented) has brought new energy to the old favorites like "Hiway 61" and "All Along the Watchtower". Rather that stand off to the side, Charlie is all over the place, sometimes right in Bob's face. He and Bob do a lot of mirroring, where Bob plays the organ and Charlie plays exactly the same note at the same time on guitar. There is also a lot of back and forth playing with Bob on organ, guitar, or harmonica. Bob is up front and center more now and very animated. I think he's more relaxed because, while the former lead guitarist played well, Charlie is also a great performer. This takes the load of performing off just Bob, and there are times people will be watching Charlie instead of watching only Bob.
Bob concerts can be divided into three components---old favs like Hiway 61, Like a Rolling Stone, and All Along the Watchtower, deep cuts which are old songs that are not as well known, but still good and reworked, and new material--songs from his newer CDs like "Modern Times" and "Together Through Life". Friday the newer songs were from "Modern Times" and Saturday they were from "Together Through Life". We were privileged to see his first live performance of "It's All Good" on Saturday, and he played "Every Grain of Sand" for the third time ever on Friday---as if both concerts weren't special enough for us! He constantly changes his set list, so no two concerts are the same. He plays 17 songs a night--about two hours worth, and so far this year has played over 100 different songs.

My first concert! Crazy, isn't it? Wow!!! I had a truly awesome experience....and loved every minute of it. I was right up front (we were all squished but I can guess maybe 2nd row), so I could see every facial expression, every smile, every move Bob Dylan made this night! Read concert reviews throughout the summer pretty much all saying the same thing: "he keeps to himself," "he never talks to the audience," "he doesn't sing well," etc., etc. Well....that was definitely not the Dylan on stage Saturday night. He came out smiling... so handsome, so confident and ready to rock! Right from the first song "Gonna Change"....I was ecstatic....I actually recognized song after song!! I'm still what you might call a "new fan." Dylan's always been "around"....but over the summer I began to really listen to him and found his songs insightful, soulful, powerful. I was more than thrilled to hear "Lay Lady Lay" since it's a very favorite of mine. But this night I was blown away by "Forgetful Heart," which he sung so beautifully....with a lot of soul. He has a strong voice still and he really sang his heart out this night. I couldn't believe how funny he was too...especially when he tried to scare that guitarist pretending to be Tom Waits. Thank you Bob Dylan for a very memorable first concert!! Hoping to see you again, real soon!

To Irishlass. I would've done the same.
I have been through some hard times myself and I've learned that you always come out the other side a little bit stronger and wiser.
As for Bob and the boys. Ive seen clips of this tour on youtube and can't wait til they come back to Glasgow Scotland. Saw them in May wich was great but I think they are stronger with Charlie Sexton back in the group.
The haloween gig looked amazing.
Dylan on Halloween night....

...must have been sweet.
I dressed as Bob here at one of the local clubs for Halloween.
It went well, the crowd was young but lots of girls know and love Dylan. The band even called me out as I was jamming on my air-filled guitar. It was a blast, too bad Halloween is only once a year.

Ahhh...
This is my second Bob show and once again, I was SO thoroughly impressed. Although he does not exhibit the youthful voice he once had, I am so amazed by the way he rearranges and reinvents every note that comes out of his mouth. He doesn't cease to surprise. And the band...? Unbelievable. I was fortunate enough to be up front and in sight of each members' face--the interactions between them and the direction from Bob was inspiring. From his new songs to his old, from the distinguishable or not, every moment was moving beyond words. Although I am a new-comer, I look forward to being seasoned in the near future. Thanks, Bob!
You know what they say!
It's ALL Good. And that definitely applies to this show! This was my fourth Bob show of the year and far and away my favorite (although the night before was really excellent as well). Everything about this show just came together: the setlist was awesome, Bob was in great voice, the band was rockin', and a big thumbs up for the audience who whooped and hollered when the band was rockin and was quiet and respectful during the quiet moments (like Bob's brilliant rendition of Forgetful Heart). The atmosphere was a big party for Halloween and Bob was drawn into it - introducing a mock Tom Waits (played by Stu Kimball) and later an invisible Willie Nelson. And the debut performance of "it's All Good" was hard rockin'! Go Charlie! What a fun, festive, joyous time!

Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children's faces looking up,
Holding wonder like a cup.
Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like the curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.
Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
Wow
Once again, the man amazed me. First off, what a great place this Aragon Ballroom is, visually. Pretty good sound, not disappointing by any means but the loudest I have heard the band. The set list was fantastic, filled with newer soon to be classics, they just need time to mature. What a treat to have Charlie back in the band but it's good to see Bob give him a run for his money with some good playing himself. Clearly Bob was having a good time because some nights you might only see a wry grin out of him, but last night he was really smiling. It seems to me as though the dynamics of the band are at a pinnacle as was illustrated by the fantastic extended jams with early buildups into quieter sections and then back up to a roaring outro. I still enjoyed the slower, quieter songs just as much. I'm sure that Bob duped everyone in the place when he announced Tow Waits as special guest, and Stu wasn't a bad imitation but that sure would have been memorable. And of course Willie wasn't backstage waiting to sing one, but what the hell. All you need is Bob.
Greatest Man of Them All.
Sometimes words just fall short of emotion, and last night at the Aragon Ballroom- in Chicago- that is just how things felt. Simply phenomenal and the best performance by this wonderful man, with the dearest heart of them all! I don’t know if it was the energy from the crowd, the energy from the band, or the fact that Bob was in the happiest mood I have ever seen, but my oh my, was it the event of a lifetime! One of those nights that will haunt your memories and tear your heart out right in its tracks, until you are bound to it and the music forever. Last night, that was the way music should always be played. Bob bared his soul and the audience basked in colors not yet seen. The best part of the night was seeing Bob laughing and enjoying himself. If only the world could give him such joy always… The band was great too, and the interaction between them all was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. If you were there, you know what I mean. Some may say that spending my last dollars to see Bob Dylan is not the smartest thing to do. In a few months I find myself homeless, my electric is being cut tomorrow, and I find I have to take care of the burdens of so many in the family. Yet, I do not think it crazy, for in the bittersweet sadness of this world, I had a few nights of true happiness and music that touched my soul until I wept. Those moments are worth a million days in darkness. I am so blessed to have witnessed such a wonderful concert. I hope one day I may cross his path, so that I may simply tell him “thank you, from the bottom of my heart.” He has done for me, what Woody Guthrie did for him…thank you Bob for changing the view of the world and making it a better place! Simply the greatest performance filled with heart, from the man with the greatest heart! *Favorite songs from the set list: Working Man’s Blues #2, and This Dream of You, and All Along the Watch Tower.

Ramona, come closer,
Shut softly your watery eyes.
The pangs of your sadness
Shall pass as your senses will rise.
The flowers of the city
Though breathlike, get deathlike at times.
And there's no use in tryin'
T' deal with the dyin',
Though I cannot explain that in lines.
Your cracked country lips,
I still wish to kiss,
As to be under the strength of your skin.
Your magnetic movements
Still capture the minutes I'm in.
But it grieves my heart, love,
To see you tryin' to be a part of
A world that just don't exist.
It's all just a dream, babe,
A vacuum, a scheme, babe,
That sucks you into feelin' like this.
I can see that your head
Has been twisted and fed
By worthless foam from the mouth.
I can tell you are torn
Between stayin' and returnin'
On back to the South.
You've been fooled into thinking
That the finishin' end is at hand.
Yet there's no one to beat you,
No one t' defeat you,
'Cept the thoughts of yourself feeling bad.
I've heard you say many times
That you're better 'n no one
And no one is better 'n you.
If you really believe that,
You know you got
Nothing to win and nothing to lose.
From fixtures and forces and friends,
Your sorrow does stem,
That hype you and type you,
Making you feel
That you must be exactly like them.
I'd forever talk to you,
But soon my words,
They would turn into a meaningless ring.
For deep in my heart
I know there is no help I can bring.
Everything passes,
Everything changes,
Just do what you think you should do.
And someday maybe,
Who knows, baby,
I'll come and be cryin' to you.
Oh, My
They blew the roof off the place, plain and simple. I don't know if I've seen Bob have so much fun in all my life. This one stands beside the best I've seen. Absolutely terrific. Welcome back Charlie, and don't leave anymore, ya hear?
Voice good, music great, set list excellent, with songs you wouldn't expect to be this good live outstanding and the standards elevated to a new level.
It was a "treat" in every sense of the word.
RyanB~ This was the best

This was the best Dylan I've ever heard. Charlie Sexton can play.
Holy Jesus....
The whole set was one incredible jam after another by an incredibly tight band.
Bob got out front to do his best Elvis. And his voice was great, absolutely.
I've heard "Rolling Stone," I think, every one of the 11 times I've been to a Dylan show, but tonight, it was on fire...
Dylan pulled a Halloween prank, by announcing, "Special Guest, Tom Waits!" only to have the rhythm player step up to the mic and give a spot on rendition of Waits', "Jesus Gonna Be Here." (I think that's the name of the song)
Anyway, I'm off to see Bob in Detroit on the 6th, and if this show is any indication of what's to come, then we all have some great music to look forward to in the future and beyond the horizon.
Thanks Bob & Co. and thanks Charlie Sexton.
