Can't begin to describe how great this show was!
It's the best I've seen Dylan since his 5 night run with Van Morrison in NYC back in 1998.
The addition of Charlie Sexton back in the lineup takes this band to a whole new place and seems to push Dylan to new heights as well. The interplay between these two is just a joy to watch.
Not only was the set list great, but Bob's voice was terrific and became stronger and better as the night progressed. On top of that, he was playing some fine organ lines, not just standing behind the thing, and his harp solos were also the best I've heard him play in years!
High Water and Cold Irons Bound were real high points for me!

And BTW---hats off to a terrific Canton, Ohio crowd. What enthusiasm!! Of course, how could you not be enthusiastic about a stellar performance like this one!

Really enjoyed the concert, band was great and Dylan sounded like Dylan should sound, the crowd was into it and the band responded. 4th time I've seen Dylan over 30 years and this show was the best by far. All the reviews from this tour are for real,Thanks Bob for a great show!!!

true like ice, like fire

My love she speaks like silence,
Without ideals or violence,
She doesn't have to say she's faithful,
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.
People carry roses,
Make promises by the hours,
My love she laughs like the flowers,
Valentines can't buy her.

In the dime stores and bus stations,
People talk of situations,
Read books, repeat quotations,
Draw conclusions on the wall.
Some speak of the future,
My love she speaks softly,
She knows there's no success like failure
And that failure's no success at all.

The cloak and dagger dangles,
Madams light the candles.
In ceremonies of the horsemen,
Even the pawn must hold a grudge.
Statues made of match sticks,
Crumble into one another,
My love winks, she does not bother,
She knows too much to argue or to judge.

The bridge at midnight trembles,
The country doctor rambles,
Bankers' nieces seek perfection,
Expecting all the gifts that wise men bring.
The wind howls like a hammer,
The night blows cold and rainy,
My love she's like some raven
At my window with a broken wing.

Reconstructing Genius!

I was going to this concert no matter what... it isn't often that you can say you were in the same room with a true legend. The thing about this tour that seems to be resonating with everyone is the way Dylan is taking his songs from the past and reconstructing them into a very tight, blues-oriented set. With a hired gun like Charlie Sexton providing the driving guitar licks, I felt like I was at an old times blues festival. The Canton crowd was really into the music- sitting in the 3rd row, we had to stand the whole night because everyone was into the band and how Bob was actually laughing and moving around a bit! The fact that we got to hear him do Girl From The North Country in a very rockin' bluesy rendidtion was worth the price of admission :-) BRILLIANT show!

Describing Bob Dylan

5

Bob is: caring, compassionate, thoughtful, insightful, wise, deep, amazingly observant, a genius wordsmith...generous to his fans, prolific, productive, super-talented, a true artist...humble, humorous...soulful, sexy, cute, seductive...unique, charismatic, endlessly fascinating, totally mezmerizing,,,the coolest man ever. Just drove 8 hours to Chicago to see him on the 30th and 31st. Well worth the trip. Bob never disappoints, but those two shows were over-the-top! WOW I still have butterflies in my stomach. Would follow him everywhere if I could. This last "Bob fix" should get me through the long Minnesota winter until he comes around again. Hopefully next year he will come back to Minnesota. Love you Bob! Thanks for the best time I had all year, and thanks for the Christmas album which I have almost worn out already.

One of the best

My first live Girl From The North Country and Love Minus Zero. Two excellent surprises. The band was tight, Dylan was animated. I first saw him in 1980 and I think this was, overall, the best show I've attended.

Canton isn't a "big city" but we have a huge community of artists and musicians and we're all in shock and thrilled that Bob Dylan is coming to our hometown. Just 5 blocks south of the Civic Center is one of our favorite locations for fabulous music, food and spirits... the Iris restaurant (http://www.irisdowntown.com)
The Iris is small, warm, beautiful with delectable food and is such a supporter of local blues, folk, zydeco, jazz music. They host live music every Thursday night. We're dreaming that Bob Dylan will stop by our open mic night at the Iris after his performance for a respite for food, drink and perhaps maybe a tune. We can dream... we live in Ohio? ;)
