why call myself Accident Statistic ?

The lines in Slow Train just hit me, 'You could die down here, be just another accident statistic' And it makes me think; if i was to die tomorrow what would people say about me. The people who see me every day. the people who...know me. They don't really know me, the mask i wear, the role i play, that is not me. And even those closest to me, they don't really know me. Maybe i don't even know me.

I have to admit i misheard this song for so many years, i thought it said....' Boy, without a doubt, you have to put your message straight, you could die down here, be just another accident statistic.' which seems to fit my thoughts a lot better, although 'quit your mess and straighten out' seems to fit as well.

Its about being straight; no smoke or mirrors, no games. About being honest and showing your true face. Letting people know what you really think. No more cynicism. And that makes me think of another song; ' Let's try to get beneath the surface waste, girl, No more booby traps and bombs, No more decadence and charm'

or maybe i'm completely wrong.

but thats what it means to me.
