Love the new disc and blessed with a living legacy
posted Jul 5 2009 by beggarz

Hey yo, just wanted to say that the new disc is GROUPIE-tastic, I love the accordian and the overall feel, been spinning it on repeat the past few days and "Life Is Hard" is maybe the most heartbreaking tune I've ever heard - the last few discs have polished the steel in my chest with which I face the reality of this world, but that song melts it so fast I almost had to turn it off a couple of times, there was molten metal spilling everywhere!

Man! Don't ever stop! And come visit us here in Vancouver again soon - ha ha!! I was in the second row at GM Place last time 'round with this floozy who drank my wallet dry while I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat just being able to see it all so close I could match the band's fingers to the music I was hearing - I can't tell you how inspirational Dylan's incredible journey has been to me, certainly not without blathering myself into a sycophantic rage - ha ha!!

The time before, at the PNE Colliseum here I got a ticket last minute in the bleachers stage left and felt so lucky to be pretty close until Dylan came out and played the whole show with his back to me - a woman near me kept squealing 'Bobbie! Bobbie! Turn around! Show us your FACE!' - Priceless, precious memories always, from Buffalo's Rich Stadium in '86 where him and Petty just slayed us, and Bob did Rainy Day Women solo acoustic and had 70,000 people singing the chorus loud enough Ron and Nancy could hear it in the White House, to a gig with Santana at Toronto's CNE Grandstand where my buddy's ex dosed me with bad acid and we got rained on, to the two great shows I've seen since moving out West, there's always a profound sense of vitality and a good story to a Dylan show.

Yeh, Baby!! - I could go on and on, but it's all there on the records : I honestly don't think anyone has taught me more about music, creativity, poetry, literature and my own capacity for all of these - there is no one who has given, nor challenged me more than Terry Timmy Bobby Zimmy R.J. Ray Bobby D.!

Thanks so much - the message of this man's life is so strong and compelling and positive and uplifting in every way, it has literally brought me from the desolate land of a fundamentalist scientific public school education to a tangible characterization and understanding of God over the past ten years. If you've ever read 'Flatland', that is how I would equate the effect of Dylan's work on my spirit. Ha ha - maybe I should get out more, but there really is no one I can think of who has led me to more wisdom, understanding, and freedom and confidence of critical thought. All told, Bob has been a 'perfect stranger' to me pretty much my entire life :-))

All the best to everyone and love the website, too - it has been an invaluable resource, superb and tastefully appointed! You are all so vital to our collective culture, a true cornerstone of the history of these times, unequivocally.

Oh yeh, and if you ever need a guitar tech or someone to tune your harmonicas, you know who to call! >.-)
