I'm still enjoying Tell Tale Signs and we get the news that Bob is about to produce another new album in a month or so ... gee, Jeff Rosen is keeping him busier. I'm looking forward to it, of course, but like a lot of Dylan followers I am still stuck in the past ... and that thanks to the photograph I put up today. It was taken in May 1966 at the Ritz Cinema in Belfast ... a wonderful theatre that is no more; now it's an anonymous hotel block. Back then it was an entertainment mecca ... nightly and daily picture shows ... and lots of great concerts ... I saw Bobby Rydell there along with Helen Shapiro ... they were very good ... I saw Peter, Paul and Mary there, too - they were even better, accompanied only by their own guitars and a bass player, who might have been Bill Lee, but then again maybe it wasn't. I can't recall that well. When Bob came I had only just started my first job ... money was tight, very tight ... a bit like today's credit crunch, accept what it was that we didn't get paid very much so didn't have lots to spend. Anyway, he came and went and we are still talking about it in certain circles. He came back years later to Belfast King's Hall, even the Maysfield Leisure Centre and Dundonald Ice Bowl ... but it was the Ritz that sticks out. He's coming back later this year to Dublin ... the new O2 which is replacing the cavernous The Point. Looking forward to that ... and the new album. Cheers and love to all ....
