Not fade away ... posted Aug 17 2009 by Canute

I haven't been keeping this up for a while ... a bit busy. That's what happens when you retire. Not enough hours in the day to get it all done ... Bob's been and gone from Europe, he's been around the Baseball parks in the States ... but he has left us with some good music to enjoy both here and there ... especially in the last few days ... first in Lubbock, Texas, home of the legend Buddy Holly, Bob gave us his version of Not Fade Away. He's done it a lot in concert, I know, but he was in Buddy Holly territory so it was appropriate that he did it there. Hope he found time in his offstage wanderings to go to Buddy grave and bow his head. Then, the last night of the current tour, we find him in Lake Tahoe and my goodness ... what does he bring out of the cupborad, Heartbreak Hotel. I haven't heard it yet, but it will come up on the internet sooner rather than later ... it is a pity it is not being given to us here - afterall Sony gave us the live Forgetful Heart first. So, c'mon round here ... Heartbreak Hotel ... please. Interestingly, Elvis is up on Utube singing lustily King Creole from the old black and white movie ... and sounding good and looking good, he does it well. So, that' all for now ... more later. Oh, Ps ... there is a lot of talk in the Press about Bob coming out at Christmas with a, wait for it, Christmas album ... Silent Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Santa's Comin' Back to Town ... here's hopiing!
