Well, the not so new CD has been on perpetual repeat for two and a half weeks. Here are some thoughts or aimless ramblings, depending on how you view it.
I love the piano demo version of Dignity. I think the version of Someday Baby on this compilation is better than Modern Times. And Red River Shore is priceless. The sequencing of those three songs together flows well.
There are other songs I like obviously, like all of them, but I do think Mississippi is better on Love and Theft. Also, I would say that High Water is good, but I have heard some better renditions, in my opinion anyway, at some of the concerts I have been at.
Which brings me to the live songs. Some are nice to listen to, but I had really hoped this bootleg series would feature live performances from the 2000-2002 era. Perhaps more of that is coming.
I was also hoping we might hear some of these songs live on this tour, but that does not look like it is going to happen.
I also enjoy the word play as he is working through the songs. I particularly found it interesting that the opening lines from Sugar Baby were originally part of Can't Wait. I'll never forget the Kohl Center in Madison going completely silent in a mesmorized fashion when Bob performed this song live there in what I believe was 2001 on Halloween. Happy Halloween!

High Water
Hi. Noticed you posted a comment. I like the banjo arrangement. Totally agree. Hope all is well.
I agree... there are some
I agree... there are some better High Water boots out there... was this a "field recording" (as some columbia web and bonus disk label them.)
Bozeman 2005 has a great version...
I have other boots with the banjo and they rock it hard.
I love the line.. " 'I don't car.' " Bob does it a little different every time... gives it a new meaning.
This year I noticed that it was a slower-softer version... maybe that was just the Lethbridge show.
