The Ballad Of My Pals and 'Billy The Kid'...Some devils said I kept bad company until the day I died. I wouldn't have kept bad company if I hadn't tried. A devil said, "Get ready for hell.", and that is what we did, we got our guns and we got our stars and they called me 'Billy The Kid'. I said, "Reap it Murphy, you son of a bitch.", before I shot a devil down, right between the eyes, at the edge, of a dirty, dusty town. Now, that was the end of 'The Lincoln County War", but the high flutin devils wanted plenty more. They wanted me and all my pals dead in the ground and they wanted the truth far from their towns and written in their books for history, they wrote we were nothing but bad company. Pat Garrett, the sherriff, didn't shoot me in the back, we lied like the devils and got them off my track. Yea, we put them to rest, that's what we did, they thought they put an end to 'Billy The Kid'. My pal let me go and I went underground, on top of the dirt, to an old Mexico town. I died an old man, but before I did, I came back to tell the story of 'My Pals and Billy The Kid'. Now, there might be wars going on until the day we die and one side is the truth and one side is a lie, yea, and it might be, betwix them both is a slip, betrix the clean and the dirty cup and the lip. Yea, and it might be the words we hear and read are not the truth at all, and you might need your guns and you might need your stars, if the lies of the devil try to make you fall. Some devils said I kept bad company until the day I died. I wouldn't have kept bad company if I hadn't tried. A devil said "Get ready for hell.", and that is what we did, we got our guns and we got our stars and they called me 'BIlly The Kid'. Yea, we got our guns and we got our stars and they called me 'Billy The Kid'. Yea, they called me 'Billy The Kid' The End.......Written by Carmela Ann LeBlanc on July 19. 1959.....William H. Bonnie alies 'Billy The Kid' was born in 1859. Dear Mr. Bob Dylan. I would like you to sing this ballad on stage in honor of the movies, 'Young Guns' and 'Young Guns II. I asked 'Motley Crue' @My Space to sing it, no response, that was about a month ago, I asked my son, Luke to do it, he might, last night I asked him again and he said he was busy with his own music, so when I asked him if he wouldn't mind if I sent it to you. He said, maybe I should send it to you. Maybe all of you will sing it one day, maybe none of you ever will, only 'The Shadow' knows and 'The Water Under The Bridge'. You shook my son, Luke Young Le Blanc's hand, in Mpls, Mn. Remember, Luke was born on Neil Young's birthday. 50 years apart,ect.. Luke goes to school at 'Breck' in Mpls, Mn. Duke, the one who gave me your tamborine, got him there with financial help because he is the poor boy in N. Mpls, MN. Luke just finished writing a big history report about you, he spent about one month on it. It was an oral report. He says even if you sing this he might sing it too. Sincerely Carmela Ann LeBlanc.
