Welcome to Dreamtime posted Jul 29 2008 by Fred@Dreamtime
The Dreamtime Podcast is commentary on Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour, usually about something Dylan has said during one of his shows that has intrigued me, or my digging a little deeper into the story of the musician or song. Occasionally, I go off on a tangent that has little or nothing to do with "Theme Time."
The shows can be listened to on the site, or you can subscribe through the RSS Feed or through iTunes. If you're more visual than audio-oriented, show notes/scripts are also on the Dreamtime site, as well as links to sources or for further information.
During the TTRH season, I produce an average of two podcasts a month. During the season hiatus, I shift to a once-a-month schedule.
I'm currently (as of July 2008) at 56 shows, running anywhere from five minutes to a few full hour specials. Some shows that Dylan fans might enjoy, whether a fan of TTRH or not, include:
Episode 4 - Tiny, I never saw a Toronto Maple Leaf hockey game. The Tiny Tim/Dylan connection.
Episode 15 – I ran at Bakersfield - The James Dean/Dylan connection
Episode 12 - Love, Theft, and Emails
Episode 40 - A Ghost in Blackface
Episode 45 - Back Where I Come From: The Roots of Theme Time Radio Hour Sixty-six years before the first episode of Theme Time Radio Hour, when radio was just radio and the word satellite was only used by astronomers, there was another series that was organized around themes. The show, titled Back Where I Come From, was written by Alan Lomax, directed by Nicholas Ray, who would later go on to direct Rebel Without a Cause, and featured Woody Guthrie.
