Holy Blood

I take but one more step
The rocks bite at the open wounds upon my feet.
My blurry vision distorts the crowd
Now they all become wild creatures mocking me in vain.
I collapse and cry tears of blood
Yet no one is listening to the fear that marks my pain.
The whip lashes at my skin
Kissing me softly with its venom.
I stand unsteadily as the blood pours from my open wounds
Mingling with the dirt and sweat.
I scream in agony as the wood digs deeper into my back
A crown of thorns marking me a king, but mocking me in death.
The waning sunlight brings a close to the day
As I stand upon the threshold of deaths door
Nothing but a simple veil hangs between the worlds unknown.
Time becomes both my enemy and witness
As I am nailed to the wood beneath my skin.
I am nothing more than a slab of meat in a butcher’s display.
The moonlight rapes the darkness
As shadows stalk my soul.
In agony I wait for death to come.
My bones are shattered into a million pieces
Like fragments from a memory.
My limbs are twisted and drenched in blood.
I scream for my Father, for my mother, for the devil;
Yet I am left to die alone.
The pain it wracks my body,
As I shudder in defiance.
The nails continue to bite harder in protest
I am a semblance of a corpse in the living world
Yet, still I hang on.
The pain.
I scream, for I cannot bear the pain.
Delirium strikes me with the precision of a Viper.
I look out amid the crowd
Drenched in the smell of death.
He is there watching me.
He betrayed me.
Judas, you do see me.
I scream as the blood curtails in my veins.
The darkness of silence caresses my fear
As death numbs my soul.
I watch as tears of corrupted blood
Slid slowly from my cheeks and stain the innocent ground.
I watch her weeping
Softly I whisper:
“Do not cry for me.
For I must die for you.”
My body begins to shake so violently
As one-by-one my muscles begin to snap.
The darkened world fades away to memory.
Our sin forever gone.
Sunlight stained his body
The dried blood exposed naked upon his skin
Like the secrets that mingled with the stagnant air.
His body lifeless, now he was living among the dead.
Yet his voice stirred the silence
Haunting her soul as she stood soaked in his blood.
“Do not cry for me my love, for I am never gone.
Look to the cross which I had to bear.
Mankind is saved, you are saved.
Evil can no longer scream, it is but a whisper in one’s soul.
Remember my love, that I am never gone.”
The hot sunlight chilled the bones beneath her skin.
Tears licked her cheeks like the water sweeps the shore.
She fell to her knees clutching her belly as she whispered to him;
“You shall live on, for you are never gone.”
