I'm not exactly sure why I never gave Dylan a second listen. My husband loves Dylan, and so do my brother and sister. I've heard of the more popular ones like "Mr. Tambourine Man," but never went beyond that song.
Then one night I was watching the surprisingly interesting super-hero movie, Watchmen, and heard "Desolation Row," "The Times They Are A-Changin," and "All Along the Watchtower," all songs I've heard in other movies, but never realized and couldn't believe they were Dylan. My husband laughed at my naivety.
Then just as fate would have it, PBS had a Dylan documentary on late one night, and I was mesmerized. I understood why one would rave about Dylan. His coolness, his aura, his passion for what he was singing. That night I fell in love with Dylan....at approximately 11:47pm.
Now, every day is "Dylan Day" in my house. My kids, 8 and 6 years-old, love listening to him too. I was ecstatic when I found out Dylan was touring!! I bought my tickets and can't wait to see a legend on stage...for the very first time! He's a brilliant beautiful man and I could only hope to tell him in person....not likely....but still wishing.
So now, regretting not giving Dylan that second listen a long, long time ago.....I am catching up....listening to him every chance I get.
