I thought the world was past this...
posted Jan 3 2009 by javalogy

I haven't noticed any trouble at the Bob Dylan Columbia forums (yet), but it seems like every other time I go to the Jakob Dylan forums at Columbia, some racist, homophobic, neo-nazi, "fundamentalists" (emphasis on "mental," null and void on the "fun"), spiteful, hypocritical bigot that can't find their way to a spell-check button, has posted hateful spewings all over the board. Same sort of thing at the Obama YouTube sites, and Dr. King memorial sites. I suppose this stuff is just always around, but things just seem worse to me lately. Sad. Frustrating. I suppose that is what these dimwits are after; diminish the ability for the rest of the world to be healthy--to sicken the rest of us with their violence, to make us all quit taking an interest in each others ideas, to destroy community by making the places we gather online so cluttered with hatefulness, and so inhospitable that none of us go there anymore; so that none of us see the famous March on Washington, or listen to the new President of the United States pay tribute to his humanitarian mom, or even manage to share information about where to find new music releases by our favorite artists!

Not a good way to start the day.
