I was gifted a Swan "C" --nothing fancy, but I like it. I think I would prefer a lower range but am told this is best/most forgiving for practicing. So far, (think I've written this before somewhere) I have all the talent of a tea kettle whistle trying to mimic a Nathan AirChime K5LA. Mostly, what seems to be getting in the way of my improvement has nothing to do with the instrument; I just feel self-conscious practicing because the best sounds I can get out of it seem to come when I play it loud! What I'm learning now, though, is that there is more to the breath control than I thought there would be--sometimes it kinda makes me dizzy--but in some weird good way. Hard to explain. One minor annoyance however, which you (reading) may or may not be able to relate to, is that playing the harmonica does inhibit wearing lipstick and/or lip gloss! It's not that I'm a make-up addict or anything, but get chapped lips. “Lipstuff” and harmonicas don't mix. Helpful for sliding purposes, but then the harmonica gets all greasy; not a pretty sight! Also, have to be careful of where I store it (the harmonica); I dropped it in my lunch bag recently and a bunch of cracker crumbs got in it. It took forever to knock all the crumblies out! Not actually certain that they are all out yet…

My Harmonica is a Hohner
My Harmonica is a Hohner Marine Band Harmonica, Key of C.
Do you have a song book to play songs. I have a Bob Dylan one.
I dont get dizzy playing, or any thing. I just sit back relax and play.
I dont notice it being difficult having chapped lips, but I do find I have to brush my teeth every time before playing or else after a while the harmonica will get this gross slime around it and you have to clean it carefully.
