Seems like Dylan is condemned if he does, and condemned if he don't. He resists publicly taking political positions, and some people say he is apathetic, but if he is perceived to be making any personal political associations, then other folks say he is out of line... or something.
Maybe it has to do with that tired old "spokesman for a generation" thing. I guess if you see yourself as part of some particular generation, and you see somebody else as your "spokesman" then you would want that "spokesman" to think like you think and talk like you talk and if they don't then it's time to get upset... But all that's just--that kind of thinking can only lead to disappointment. The only person that is always going to think exactly the same way as you do, is yourself.
I'm having trouble making sense of it all.
