Protest Song?
posted Jan 31 2009 by javalogy

I was reading this news article that Gilly posted a link to from downthehighway.info, and it was all bent about some commercial that the famous “protest” song “Blowin’ in the Wind” was recently given permission to use. Protest song? Huh. I dunno. I never really thought of “Blowin’ in the Wind” as a protest song in and of itself. It was sung at a lot of protest rallies and marches, but…I always thought of it as more of a lyrical, kinda fatalistic “State of the Union Address” than some sort of aggressive protest thing. Of course, one could sing it with protestation in their vocal intonation, and many have…oh well. I guess. The answer my friend(s) is blowin’ in the wind (Aarrrrggghhhh-I’m so sorry! That was such a trite-n-true shot! I just couldn’t bring myself to want to resist that one). ^_^
