I ought to know myself better by now, and at the first sight of a "favorites" survey, I SHOULD RUN, but no, no I find myself strangely attracted to them...I end up writing WAY too much, and still feel like I've not done the thing justice. I know I'll wake up in the middle of the night thinking about all of the artists that I forgot. I also realize as I read this, that I've focused for the most part on those I've grown up with, rather than the more current work that is happening. The most major insight I gained from taking this survey, is that I'm more of a Bob Dylan fan that I realized; I mean, I know I love his work, but goodness! As I look back upon my life experience, his music is woven all through it! Wild. Ah well. This is what I have for a response for now:
1. What’s your all-time favourite song?
Lay Down Your Weary Tune--Bob Dylan.
2. If your life had a soundtrack, what five songs would have to be on it?
--Politik—Coldplay
--Four Seasons in One Day (Then There Were Two version)
--She Divines Water—Camper Van Beethoven
--Hurt—Johnny Cash
--Bist du bei mir— “Joyeux Noel” Soundtrack
3. What songs have helped get you through the tough times in your life?
Bob Dylan (Entire Discography), The Emperor Concerto, Serenade for Winds, Good Morning Heartache, Overture and Underture for Tommy, Against the Night (Jason Webley), These Days, Anarchy in the UK, Lost in the Supermarket, The World Spins Madly On, This Monkey’s Gone to Heaven, most things by Jimi Hendrix, most things by the Stones, David Bowie, and anything sung by Patsy Cline.
4. What songs come to mind when you think of the best times in your life? Albums: Bob Dylan (Entire Discography), Peter Gabriel: Security, Simon & Garfunkel: Parsley Sage Rosemary Thyme, Beatles: Rubber Soul, Iron Butterfly: Inagaddadavida (with extended drum solo), Prince & The Revolution: Purple Rain, The Pixies: Doolittle, The Pogues: If I Should Fall from Grace (with God), and Camper Van Beethoven: Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart.

--What Are You Watching-Dayliner
--Be There--Eskimo Fire
6. What is the first song you remember loving as a child?
Mr. Tamborine Man
7. What was the first album you ever bought?
The soundtrack to “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”
(The second album I ever bought, was "U2:WAR")
8. Who are your favourite artists/bands?
Too many to list; Bob Dylan is my favorite artist (actually I'm pretty sure I've been in love with Bob Dylan from the moment I could make out "One Too Many Mornings" from inside my mother's womb. In fact, I doubt I would have left the womb at all, except that I wanted to be able to hear his music more clearly).
9. Are there any songs that still give you chills when you hear them?
Classical music is very powerful, and there was an interesting compilation a few years back "Masterworks Reworked" that I liked. Bob Dylan's work gets to me. Leonard Cohen's gets to me. Some of Jason Webley's songs, also, various songs sung by Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Edith Piaf, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr. --they all have a powerful "chills" factor for me.
