Have you seen that excellent tour that's planned?! Silly question. I know anybody reading this has. He is headed for many of my favorite European destinations! Once over there, one could just keep hoppin' trains to follow rest of the tour stops! Okay. That's a little stalkerish, huh. Still! It'd be fun.

I was reading this news article that Gilly posted a link to from downthehighway.info, and it was all bent about some commercial that the famous “protest” song “Blowin’ in the Wind” was recently given permission to use. Protest song?

I did like both the "Nothing" and "Something" shows! My folks used to play the soundtrack to "Strawberry Statement" all the time; I loved that album. It was great to hear something from off of it... I wonder if it is somewhere in my parents' basement, gathering dust, in need of rescue... I'll have to give a call and find out (knowing my Mom's penchant for "riddance" I will find it was grist for a garage sale long ago).

I think the "Cats" show was the first I've heard from Theme Time Radio that I didn't like all the much. Well, I don't think it was about the music, the music was interesting, and Dylan was informative/amusing as always. Thing is, I like cats. I don't think, based upon that show, that Dylan does. I don't think he hates 'em or anything, I just don't think they interest him all that much. Of course, it may be that he just doesn't like being told what to do (apparently there were a lot of complaints that Theme Time Radio did a "Dogs" show, but no "Cats" show).

Been watching the coverage of the Inauguration of President Obama. I think his kids are holding up like real troopers! Gotta be a tough day for them, but an exciting day too! Great to see so many people smiling and dancing in the streets--to see such excitement!

I shared this over at another forum, thought I'd post it here too. Even though I have been raised in a world in which Bob Dylan and his music are pervasive, during the class session I taught last Wednesday, I discovered that only one of the students in the room knew who Bob Dylan was, and had ever heard his music. Strange how locked into our own realities we can get. The world is still a much bigger place than can be fully comprehended!

So, whenever I tune in on XM Radio it seems like Theme Time Radio isn't there. The main schedule at the XM Theme Time Radio page has not changed, but it (the show) seems to be absent on the air. Is DJ Dylan on vacation again? It's okay if this is so, but where did he go? I'm just wondering what's up. Anybody reading this know?

It seems strange to me, how often misery/sorrow is equated with beauty. Is it because such impressions often make us want to be of help? Get the sense that we are "needed" going? No, I'm not saying that everyone that is in a state of misery is attractive, but if you look through popular magazines, or watch music videos, it always seems like the expression of choice is looking like one is in pain, angry, and/or has the flu. What's up with that?

Many fans complain of Bob Dylan "--going electric," but as far as I can tell from listening to the Odetta interview, Dylan was electric before he was acoustic...so...he just picked up the electric again... Not really an innovation, nor surprising thing for him to do. I think before the guitar, he learned piano, so it is again hardly surprising that he plays keyboards regularly today. Doesn't everybody tend to gravitate toward that with which they are most comfortable? Doesn't everybody try to find their way "home" and stay there?!
