Let me share with you the bard
of song. Rabbi of life breathing
through rasped words: soulfully
urged from sneering lips,
moulding the wind to
new lessons of time.
Let me share the joy of
sorrow in the blues, the honky
tonk of happy freedom. Chiming
chords of 12 string guitar,
of Byrd song covering him.
An infinitely large fraction
of song, rhyme, harmony,
melody and soul poured in –
to “kick the door of your mind in”.
Let shelter be given to you
underneath his tree of song:
tree of song of life – of freedom,
of twisting knife of separation,
of thunder and hurricane – of hard rain,
pouring. Find your way home
through him, salve the pain
of lost love through him,
cherish your child through him.
Let him be a light for you,
a joker or a shaman for you –
let him shock you with electric
sound. Let him be your
guide in search for truth,
in search for meaning,
in times of change
where blood runs and
evil seed grows to twisted tree.
Let me share the bard of time
with you. Let me share Mercury
with you – let me share Apollo
with you. Let me share
Robert Allen Zimmerman
with you.
