Theres nothing i love more than waking up in the morning to see what songs Dylan played while i was asleep in another country, across the world. Wondering what will he play? How will he play it? It's all part of the whole Dylan fan excitement process that we all feel when Dylan plays those special rare songs in show
We all had that experiance over the last couple of weeks when Dylan spoiled us with some 'rarities' (meaning songs that aren't usually played or haven't been played in years), specifically, Mashantucket (15th August), Atlantic City (16th), Saratoga (17th) and Canandaigua (19th). We were treated to songs like The Times They Are A-Changin', Chimes Of Freedom, I Believe In You, Mr. Tambourine Man, Lenny Bruce, It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, This Wheel's On Fire and Shooting Star. I'm sure everyone checking the setlists and everyone at those shows all felt pleasantly rewarded to hear these great songs out of the blue.
But there just 1 in 500 of Dylan's great songs hes played over the years and there too many songs sitting in the cupboard getting dusty like Mr. Tambourine Man and Shooting Star, etc. before they were played, ofcourse. Theres still great songs you've played within the last 8 years which you could play again and advance on, adding some of Donnie's viola or mandoblaster and Denny's sizzling guitar licks.
Songs like Po' Boy, Tombstone Blues, Drifter's Escape, Wicked Messenger, Standing In The Doorway, Subterranean Homesick Blues, You Ain't Goin' Nowhere, Hazel, Cold Irons Bound, Floater, Tough Mama, Song To Woody, If Dogs Run Free, The Man In Me, Man In The Long Black Coat, Down Along The Cove and Million Dollar Bash to name afew of the many you have in stock.
These songs may not be something special at the moment but once played live they can become something else entirely like i've seen happen to so many songs over the past years in concerts i have attened.
I love seeing Bob Dylan in concert more than anything else and it's your changing of all these great songs you play that make the whole experiance happen.
