public service announcement:

i am currently (perhaps permanently) unable to carry on conversations on the phone due to being preoccupied with doing math on spreadsheets and sketching doodly gibberish on scrap paper. if anyone should phone, i would answer the call, but i would not be able to really talk much, so callers should prepare in advance and plan to deliver lengthy monologues on travels or other such rambling subjects. i have realized that this state of affairs has been developing for some time, especially as i frequently find myself occupying a third-person vantage point for the whole proceedings. there is probably a name for that, but i can't think of it, or say it. just please excuse me, and don't wish linearity or narrative form upon the situation.
