Covers
posted Sep 23 2008 by mckayc

So who does the Jester justice?

Peter, Paul, and Mary probably best known for John Denver's "Leaving on a Jet Plane," do a great "Too Much of Nothing." (Basement Tapes) It is an amazing cover, although with a very different sound than the Bob take on it.

While "All Along the Watchtower" may have gotten taken over by Hendrix...the Brewer and Shipley version is worth a listen! Beautiful actually.

Johnny Cash and "It Ain't Me Babe" is enjoyable but not a rare gem.

I think it is most impossible to top Bob's own "Just Like Woman," but Richie Havens covers it with feeling that holds the song to its original quality.

In the past I would have listened to the Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man" over Bob's version. I was wrong, I have to admit that it still has its charms.

Typically I don't go for many Baez covers...but her "Simple Twist of Fate" is worth it for the Dylan impression.
