the meaning of thin man

what was it that mr dylan was singing about on thin man?
the question remains...unanswered. or you might say that
somethings going on, but you dont know what it is.
think about it? thanks for posting it Robert. i like the music as good as the words to it.

xtra lyrics

the blind men were all watching
as the tall man was being crowned
ambassador to the city dump
where the tree surgeons all lounged
no one was keeping score as
the latest pirates had been found
when the mayor screams out quietly
hang them all on dirty grounds
and bury them at the local factory
as complete unknowns.
ah! and you know somethings happening here
but you dont know what it is.
do you? Mr. Jones

mr jones

i think we all have met our share of mr joneses in this world. They are the ones that write letters to the editor complaining about everything hoping someone will gush sympathy or support, when in fact, they are the disease that is making this world more restricted under useless pretenses. Lets make more rules. If i was goin to make a rule..it would be that no more rules would be allowed. The world has become increasingly anal.

Thin Men

There are rock critics, politicians, and other unmentionable forgotten people, who claim that this song was written about them. Now who, in their God given right mind, would admit or aspire to acknowledge the fact that this song might be remotely a tale of their own pathetic life?? Other than someone trying to further their own career? I don't know, but thanks for posting, it is a song I think about from time to time.

Thanx

Thanks for commenting on my post.

I added it to my favorites list at YouTube.

For some reason, listening to that song as it was posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJOVNNHY1ok&feature=relatedou, felt like I had never really heard it before. Like when you read a book and then wait for a while and read it again and it means something different to you than when you read it before. I would have said, previous to now, that "Mr. Jones" wasn't really much of a favorite (for me), but there was something about the intonation in this version, the way Dylan sang it... I liked it. A lot.

Maybe I was just able to listen differently today ("I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now"). Thanks for posting!
