Bob Dylan Approximately -

Bob Dylan Approximately - haven't read it yet.... you've got me interested.

Kabbalah ... learning it as well... and a bit of Hebrew = the Alephbeit. I'm about 4 years into the Hermetic Qabbalah and a few months into the Jewish Kabbalah. Sefer Yetzirah I've read but haven't read the Zohar yet nor have I read the Bahir or Sefer Raziel HaMalakh.

"He is relatable. He is not perfect. He is me. He is you." (quoting you)..... yes he is.... all is one... Bob is me and you.... he is all of us and him... the all is one concept.

"he’s too mercurial for that, too changeable – an unstable element in the best possible way. " (quoting you) ............ he has to change - otherwise becomes stagnate waters. One should not be stagnated... he has to flow and grow... changing is growth.

I can ramble for hours on this subject ... I'll close with saying this is a great article. I'll have to read Bob Dylan Approximately - thanks for the review! :D

love that sound....

hey Jack

wowza, you have really a lot to say and you and i obviously agree because you agree with me here, etc. But yeah, we all want to be or think we are The One who "gets it" - like Greil Marcus etc. I think it's impossible to pin Dylan down in the way that people like that try to do. I DO believe that people would buy a book that doesn't provide some critical analysis of Dylan but rather is introspective - I think that would be quite interesting really and that's something that i'm working on, or the concept of.... but hey, what the hell do i know... rien! eeks!

great to hear from you Jack : )

I love your sound,

sade

hey Lee - yeah, weird you

hey Lee - yeah, weird you mention this song about Lennon. I was just talking bout that the other day wiht someone and that EXACT line. I don't think he meant it in any nasty "I hate you" etc. way. I think, and i think you agree, Lennon was going through a period in his life where he felt everybody had to be "naked" so to speak - you know, no more bullshit, no more Beatles (as he says), no more "covers", and so he sort of "outs" Dylan with the whole "Zimmerman" thing (which he spits out with amazing force). But yes, you're right.... It does make you think of Lennnon. Does BD really have a walk on in the video or is that the stuff of urban legend? ..... hmmm... now i really want to know.....

hey, thanks for kind words on writing : )

cheers all,

sade

Like the Walrus said, you've got to find your own god in your own temple. Ever heard GOD by Lennon where he says I dont believe in Zimmerman, I think Dylan even has a walk on part in the video, ah no thats another video. but anyway. yeah I totally agree with you Mr Hearts. & yeah Sadi does write great articles. Cheers.

Religion is a frame of mind

Sadi brings up a truly great argument in this article. No one can sit there with any common sense and seriously talk about what someone else wrote as if they were sitting in the back of that person's brain with a pad and a pen. Especially with someone so mysterious as Bod Dylan. Dylan's whole energy in life is only magnified by his yearning to not be fully understood. I would completely agree with an author who wrote a book entitled "Bob Dylan: What he means to me", But the truth is that book would not sell. People want to believe that songs can be cracked and the symbolism can be understood. The simple truth is that this is not ever ever ever going to happen. Not unless Bob Dylan sits down with his pen and writes down exactly what he knows they mean. Except...What's the fun in that? We all know deep down in our hearts and our big beautiful minds that we want to relate to Bob Dylan in our own way. We want "Forever Young" to be for that special someone, we like to believe that "Girl From The North Country" is our song to our first love, and we all want to be the crooner in "Shelter From The Storm". All in all this is what makes Dylan so popular. The pure grasp that he has on all of mankind's emotions, ideas, feelings. He knows what to say and when to say it. He knows just how far to go before you realize that that one lyric you just heard is gonna change your life forever. Sadi's argument is dead on. She knows what she is talking about. I hope you will all be thinking the same way when you are trying to figure out YOUR interpretations of these timeless classics.
