It ain't either of you, babes!
posted Aug 25 2009 by steven-t

A few months ago I used Bob Dylan's "It ain't me, babe" to communicate with my neighbors in the apartment below me. Fortunately, they have moved away, but they were really bad neighbors. They would play techno music till 4 in the morning. They would fall asleep and leave DVDs playing, so when the movie ended, the menu would loop again and again. The worst part is that the noise bounces off the building next to us and is quite amplified.

There were many other noise issues, but the worst was the fighting. They would fight very loudly and for very long - sometimes very late at night. One afternoon, during a particularly bad fight, I thought that the dude was going to hit her. I was about to yell out the window, "If you hit her, I am calling the cops." But just then, they calmed down a bit. I was pretty tired of them by this point. My way of dealing with it was to open iTunes and play "It ain't me babe." I turned the volume up as loud as I could stand it. I then turned off the music.

I don't think they got the point - they were arguing again in a half-hour.
