Hollow of an old Oak tree posted Jun 19 2009 by Thom Barleycorn
In the deep woods of the Borderlands, I was raised by a band of Foxes in and around the hollow of an old Oak tree. Well now, them Foxes raised me right. I got big and strong and said, "Thank you and fare thee well" to my family of Foxes and off I went to California . Now years later, I'm a think'n maybe I'll hop a East bound train to Ol'Kentuck. I hear it's good canoeing there. I love canoeing, I also love playing the acoustic guitar & the harp and I sing alittle too. I play Bob's tunes mostly. Yep, I know all Bob's tunes.....
Well now, I still visit my band of Foxes from time to time. At night we all sit around a nice camp fire and sing Dylan songs. All our friends are there like the Raccoons, the Squirrels, Chipmunks, Rabbits, and all our Bird friends too. By the way, Rabbits have a little whistle when they sing and Opossums have a grin that seems to glow in the dark, kinda freaky if'n ya ain't used to it. Raccoons have cold hands, and Chipmunks have a terrible stuttering problem. I'll never forget the time we were all a’singing, and the Chipmunks was to start us off with Bob’s tune “You Ain’t Going No Where”. Well, here we are playing and the stuttering Chipmunks started to sing…. Clo..clo..clouds… soo...sooo..soo swi...swiii.. swift... raa…raa…raain… Oh my God what a noise, and what a good laugh we all had too. Nearly busted a gut laughing so hard. God, I love those guys. After that, they were known far and wide as, "The Stuttering Munks".
Wow, what a train wreck! You get 20 or so "Stuttering Munks"
together to sing a Dylan song and just watch what happens. Unforgetable..
Way back in the old days Granny Fox ran with the Gypsies. Now, she a say'n that Robert Zimmerman is really Samuel Clemens reincarnated. However, I respectfully disagree with ol' Miss Granny Fox, I think Bob Dylan is really Mark Twain reincarnated. Oh well, I recken it really doesn't matter anyway....
