Hey, Im Donna.. I found my way here after exhausting all YouTube videos, interviews, and getting thoroughly discusted with the "Why does Bob have to change his songs?" comments... Um... hello??? Okay.. as an artist who teaches my medium, have to tell you.... I think its not only brilliant how he takes his songs and reworks them, but is probably mandatory for his sanity! I really appreciate this. Find it amazing actually. Moving on.
I was first introduced to Dylan when I was 12 or 13, my sister used to listen to him, over and over again. Would fall asleep and wake up to him... Okay okay, his MUSIC! Geesh, so I dream a little, give a girl a break! (laughing).
I listen to Dylan on good days, bad days, slow days, fast days... (laughing)... and I have to tell you, I just refound him about a month ago.... I cannot get enough.... Have a LOT of catching up to do,, my god, good stuff.
Anyway, glad to be here...

Hi, Friend
I will add you. Some people say they don't read the papers or listen to the critics or fans. I don't really know what Bob would think (good luck trying to find out), but my guess is that most people do pay attention to that stuff, and when they pour their soul into something, it is hard if people don't take to it the way you'd hope.
I think his humanity and knack interpreting it is the key. I love the way he phrases things and plays the words off the music. I know a lot of people that sing in a church choir, hit the notes, but can't make you feel anything. I would say Bob makes you feel something. Name one rock star you hear live where you can understand the words if you haven't heard the song before. Why single Bob out for criticism in this regard.
He may not look at it like this, but he's like baseball to me (which is what is personal to me). He's part of the day to day fabric. The ebb and flow of life. The fact that he goes out there and performs day in and day out is phenomenal. I like that it is never the same. It shouldn't be.

Agree
Hey Dave
Thanks for your msg... I totally agree with you. Can you imagine if BD were to sing the same tune, the same way for 40-50 years? Man,, how inspiring is that for him or for us? The critics drive me insane... BD may be a legend, and we all (here) love and adore him, but he's still human. I dont know, does an artist ever get over hearing negative stuff about his work? (art is personal, a very personal thing to me)... I can't help but think, with the stuff that Bob is still producing, that it affects him in some way, like a negative review I read the other day. Who knows. This man has passion still, after all the years, all the songs, all the albums... he's still got it... And maybe his voice has changed, but that just makes him all the more human to me, and makes it all the more real. So many have thought of him as a God... his talent, his gifts... I believe, god given, but he is, infact, human and fallible, and the fact that he still shares his gifts with us... to me... Im just thrilled.! Think im a fan???
I like that you keep things positive.... Been reading posts.. I agree
I dont know my way around the website yet, or how to add you as a friend, but if ya want, pls add me... Thanks again! Chat soon!

Have Fun Catching Up
Have fun catching up! I enjoy listening to what he does with the different versions of songs, and it is at times amusing and at other times upsetting when you see certain reviewers or fans get all worked up about it. It's part of it all. If you want a greatest hits concert, pay too much to go to one of the latest boring Eagles concerts.
