Purchasing my first Dylan tickets
posted Oct 30 2008 by vtartist

Last night I didnt sleep well. Combination of emotions, that mixed likea very bad cocktail. On one hand, I was setting my alarm to ascertain I wouldnt miss the start of Bob Dylan ticket sales for the Nov 21 concert in NYC (my first), on the other,I found myself as excited and as giddy as I was as a teenager the first time I went to see any major musician, and yah, there were a few. I now am rolling my eyes and pushing to the back of my mind, Why couldnt I have refound Dylan earlier?????? Just shy of 47, I could've ... I should've.... but those ??'s get you about as far as resentments do... swallow the arsenic and hope the enemy dies..... ha! So, smile, relax, and bask in this newly found (for me) world of music that I am finding so intoxicating.

The words, the music, the voice.... all somehow provide me with warmth that no blanket or song before has ever offered me. Bobdylan.com albums and songs selections has been like a pingpong machine for me these days - listening to songs, reading lyrics, with a thirst for more, More, MORE.

This mornings ticket sales did not go smoothly, people were upset, I started to get upset... then I thought back to last night. One of my friends had to put his 15 year old black lab, "Dylan" down... his best friend in the world. I went down to be with him while he did this, and sat with him for a while after. And yes, Dylan was named after the obvious. I thought about how lucky I was to be living in this day and age where Bob Dylan was alive and well and still touring, and that I could type his name in on this computer and spend DAYS reading or watching videos of him, if I wanted to. I thought about priorities and perspectives, loss that I've experienced, challenges in life that Dylan's music is now helping me to heal.... and I started to laugh at the INSANITY of my getting upset with the computer glitch.! No big deal, whats meant to be, will be. Easy does it, Donna, easy does it. And a few minutes later, I was lucky to have purchased 2 balcony tickets.

Yes, this woman feels very grateful. Today I realize how fortunate I am. I will NOT have to stand outside the Theatre and beat the crap out of someone to steal their tickets on Nov 21st! :)

I'm going to see Bob Dylan Nov 21st! Im so excited!
